He sounds like one of those guys who will die with it all and his family will scrap it all.

Son of a BITCH! I'll most likely never be able to get any of that stuff, but it is so freakin' cool to know it's out there! Thanks for sharing the pics and I'm glad he warmed up to you and shared the day with you guys.

There's hope for the world, yet.

thats bullshit, some 80 something year old dude is thinking he is going to restore all that iron!!!! hoarding mentality that people had during the depression in the 30s is what causes this crap, its going to be another case of the guy dies and his family trash it all on the scrap heap...all gone to waste,go luck on getting anything from this guy, doesnt seem to live in reality.

Yea, but if were not for people like him it would all have been scrapped along time ago. At least there will be a chance for someone to get the stuff at some point. :)

As long as he is still enjoying it, and it looks like he is cause he has at least a few cars together, then good let him enjoy it till he dies. It the ones that dont enjoy it or do anything with it are the ones that I hate.

Then after he is gone it will be someone elses turn, because as long as people like us know about it when time comes wave cash in front of the family, and it will be yours.

Geeze Paul, you are like a mechanical hound dog with a nose for old metal. Do you spend all night studying hi res. google earth shots or something? Maybe a magnetic sensor in your head? If he is going to restore all that, he better get working and taking some serious vitamins too. It's going to take a long time. That is a lot of stuff!

  13. That panel looks pretty straight. I'd say straighten and paint that grill or get a repop chrome grill , chrome bumpers, original side mirrors, and mechanicals.

  14. What will probably happen is what has happened to lots of other stashes
like that ---the estate auction. The family likely knows that stuff is worth
    a bunch of money.

WOW!! you seem to find all the good stuff!!

  17. As good as it is to see someone with the foresight to have saved all that over the years it also pisses me off that he will let it sit and deteriorate rather than sell it. I would be happy for him to hord it all to his dying day so long as its under cover and cared for.

  18. you got that right.. its the freakin motherlode..

Wow! Ya know it kinda sucks. I know of a few different ol' guys that are holding on to ALOT of really cool stuff. They don't do anything with it, leave alot of it outside, and don't want to sell anything 'cuse somebody will try to get something for nothing. One guy got busted by the county and they're making him cleanup the yard. Instead of selling stuff he's cutting it up and scrapping it so he doesn't have to deal with people. CRAZY :mad::mad:

Lord I love Kansas!! Grew up there in the 50s and 60s and attended many a farm auction where the barn had at least two "projects" and loads of old iron. Poverty please don't disclose the location of this place. That stuff will disappear before summers end. Oh, a little tip for the other guys, if you ever come upon a place like this and an old fellow like him, don't say anything about hot rods!! These guys like restorers and most hate hot rodders....ask me how I know! Poverty you need to make friends with this guy if you haven't already...these guys also don't like strangers poking around and asking a lot of questions...and it takes a while to get to know them, no shit.

The old guy owns it and can do as he pleases. I don't understand the "this is bullshit" posts. What if you were in his position? I know, you'd sell anything you had to anyone who had an interest and for whatever they could aford, right? Now that's BULLSHIT, you'd hold on to it just like he is doing and don't say you wouldn't. That stuff was aquired one piece at a time and every piece has a story and I'd be willing to bet he remembers every story.
Like has been stated, someday most of the stash WILL become available and the lucky ones who are there when it happens will have nothing but praise for the oldtimer and his wisdom for collecting it.
Hang on guys, the day is coming.................promise.
