I have seen several Chevy & Mopar mock up blocks, but no Nailhead :(

  2. i may be wrong ...but the only place i have ever seen offering those plastic dummy blocks is P-Ayr , and i don't see one for a nailhead on their website. so i think you are stuck using your real motor for mock up

i'd like to have one of their SBCs , but i'd only use it 1-2-3 times a year ....and at $300 i can't justify it

I just received an email from P-Ayr Products. They stated: "We need about 500 engines to warrent building the mold. The nail head buick in total have had about 10."
So come members/Nailhead fans, if you would like to get this going, please send P-Ayr Products a request for the Nailhead to molded.:D

Build yourself 2 big crates about 3 foot high. Top them off with wet sand or clay.
Drop your nailhead in both crates once, one time with the left side of the motor first, and one time with the other side.
Mount the 2 crates with your block's impression in them together, drill a hole and fill it up completely with building insulation foam. Dis***emble and have fun...!

Well, something like that I guess... ;)

Thats a good idea. I use to cast custom diecast cars,so the mold process would be the same, just on a LARGER scale :D

i guess i'm just skeptical, but i don't trust those foam mock-up blocks. what i do trust is an actual cast iron block (with or without innards) to have the holes EXACTLY where they are supposed to be.

but, i've never used one. only used actual engines. so maybe i'm just all wet.

when i build the mounts, etc., for the 401 in my "T" i'm going to use a real buick block. may or may not be the complete engine (might be an empty block) that's going in eventually, but it'll be cast iron. when i built clarence we used the engine and ****** that became permanent.
