I'm looking to put my 350 in my 51' Pontiac chieftain and I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are some mounts someone has already made to do this. Any leads would be appreciated!
No. But you might be able to make mounts intended for 49-54 Chevy cars work with a little fab if you don't want to just make a set yourself.
I put an '81 Monte Carlo front clip on my 50 Pontiac and ended up moving the 350 back 6" from the stock Monte position because it just looked too far forward. If you're using the 51 Pontiac frame it is (as I'm sure you've found out) very different than the 49-52 Chevy units. If your fab skills are up to it, putting some of the more universal side mounts in shouldn't be too hard (Welder Series or whatever) I'll include a couple shots of my 50 in progress . I included a picture of the motor mounts that came in the 50 when I bought it - please don't do anything like that. Good luck
Hey,thanks guys for responding! I'll Def look into the universal mounts, I'm wanting to do as little fab onthe mount situation as I need, I want to be sure I get it lined up the way it's suppose to be. I got plenty of time to do research on this. I'll be posting pics on here as soon as I take em.
I know its not a cool option, especially if you enjoy fabbing stuff> Trans Dapt sells a bolt in/weld in SBC motor mount. Welded it into my Truck that was set up for a chevy 250 and it does the trick....
Hey Peeduh, What did you end up using? I'm looking to put a 350 in my '52 Chieftain. I'm not sure how it will all mock up yet, hoping to pull the motor this week.
Hey what did you end up using, looking to put a 350 in my 54 chieftain and trying to get as much advice and tips as possible
