I have a 54 Dodge Coronet. I am looking for some motor mounts and not quite sure where to go.

Ideally I need some that will work with swapping in a 440. But if nobody makes that I can probably use a set for a hemi and modify them

    Any suggestions?

I made my own for the 440 in the wayfarer. I used both parts of the motor mounts from a late 60's mopar, the part that bolts to the engine and the part that bolts to the chassis. Then I used fatman's universal motor mount kit, which is actually mostly for a chevy engine, but is just tubing and steel plate. With both parts of the mopar mounts, the chevy style works. I also saw after I did this, how someone modified a chevy engine mount to fit a mopar which may be easier. I'll try to find some pictures of my motor mounts.

or just make them, use the top half clam shell part that bolts to the motor and mock it in place like that. then make some cardboard templates for the frame side of the mounts and the make them out of square tubing. tack them into place bolted to the motor. and then pull the motor and weld them solid.

    thats what i did anyways

I made mine the way I did so that I could keep the rubber isoators. Check this place out too, that's where I got the brackets for saginaw power steering pump. They have good pics of their products, maybe you could get some ideas.

440s are really easy, get the mounts for the motor, from a yard, or order them for a 383,400 413 70s POS or whatever...., the long bolts that go through those mounts, just drop into slots and you tighten the bolt down to "pinch the slots" .... or you could do it the BADASSED way and use ELEPHANT EARS... (2 piece motor plate usually out of 3/8 aluminum) behind the waterpump......... LUKESTER

Cool. That pic is exactly what I needed to see today.
The motor is coming on saturday and we are gonna pull the old one out and size up the 440/727. I'll have to get your email so I can pick your brain as I go. (if you don't mind).

do you have any more pictures of that motor mount? How much clearance was there for your steering box? Did you have to switch it out? I mostly worried about that.
(this is my first motor swap)

So cheap, PM me and I'll shoot you my email address. I didn't have the issue with the steering box because I've got a Fatman Mustang II stub on the car. I'll help you with what I can.

easy to make yourself out of 2 pieces of 3/8 aluminum. Way stronger, easier to deal with and ultra cool... just be sure you use a polyurethane tranny mount (summit has them, I think JEGS sells the motor plates too.....
