Can anyone tell me what motor mounts I will need to put a 289 into my 55 ford? I looked through past posts but couldn't find one that concluded which one actually fit and would work. I did read that they have to be taller than one from a mustang due to the cross member and i think ones from a 65 fairlaine are supposed to work (Not sure) but when i looked those up they dont have a bolt sticking out the bottom of them (something it will need to bolt up to the mount bracket on the crossmember) thanks for any help

Go to Autozone or O'Reillys and ask for a ANCHOR 2725(L) ANCHOR 2726(R) these are the correct part numbers you will need if you are using any 289-302 or 351W.What did the 4 speed come out of ?

I believe it came out of a 64 Falcon, I bought the 289 and the 4 speed manual trans from Fordsbyjay here on the HAMB.

I ordered those mounts off ebay from Jegs they have the same part number i dont know if they are Anchor though. I also ordered a few parts like a Intake, Dipstick, Top hose connector. these were some of the things that didnt come with the engine and a new aluminum oil pan (just to make it shiny!). I'm also going to need some bolts for the timing chain cover and Intake manifold I have those posted in the wanted section of the cl***ifieds on here hopefully someone will have some they will sell me because I dont think im going to find any around here. I plan to change the rear main seal, timing cover seal, oil pan gasket and valve cover gaskets before installing this in my car just as a precaution. But first I guess I need to figure out how to convert it to 12 volts which is going to be the thing thats going to give me the most trouble cause I'm not very good with electronics. I wonder if i can use a mechanical fuel pump on this or do i need to install an electric one?

    Mark ,
Just buy a Stainless bolt set for the 289 . The sets cover all the exterior nuts , bolts and washers ! I bought mine and love it . Saves you all the time looking for new bolts and just put new ones in . They will also fit the engine when you want one built .
I got mine off Ebay and it's from Totally Stainless . That is all you will need for all the shine you want from the intake to the headers to the oil pan and everything in between !

I must have the driveshaft around here somewhere Mark. Let me look before you go buying one. At least you will have the yoke and you might just need a longer shaft made. I should have a tub of bolts for the time cover as well. If not we could go to pull a part one day and just get them off of a 302. Most of the lengths will be the same.

the trans cross member only requires slight modification .i used the trans mount out of a mid 80s t bird. the lincoln should be the same.

The shaft that will fit the closest is from a 1986 Crown Vic it will have the correct front yoke there is a conversion U-Joint I have the part # for if you use the original 52-56 rear end.The AOD transmissions like mine come in two tailshaft lengths the Mustang units are about 1 1/4" shorter than the full size car AOD's I had to shorten my shaft Crown Vic shaft 1 1/2" .If you have swapped to an 8" or 9" rear do a trial fit as it would have a different style rear U-joint.

The rear mount I recommend is an Energy Suspension 4.1122 runs about $26 and will work with several Ford transmissions Autozone or O'Reillys can get them out of their warehouse in one day if they don't have it in stock so you won't pay shipping like Jeg's or Summit.

Looking at fordsbyjay's picture do yourself a favor and get the Ford mini-starter from DB electrical only $50 and it will give you a lot more room for the exhaust on the p***enger side, you can even use the Hedman 88400 headers with it.

That is funny you should mention that. I actually have a mini starter on there from DB now. I would call them for your app Mark that way if there is a problem because it is the wrong one or something it will be more their responsibility. BTW, they have great customer service if you do have problems.
