I have an original first edition of Motor Trend magazine published in 1949.....I was told that these were reprinted and included in an issue from the 1980's or so......My question is: how do you tell the reprint from the original?

I don't know about Motor Trend but I have some of the first issues of Hot Rod which were reprinted. On those, one of the pages near the back say it's a reprint in the bottom margin.

If it's a legit repro, it'll say so on the cover or in the index or back page.

The reprint shows the current date it was published. Also, it has adds for current(when printed) adds for GM ? vehicles. Can`t seem to find my issue.

Thank you....there is nothing anywhere in the magazine that states it is a reproduction or reprint, so I hesitate to call it original first issue until verification.....Frank
