motorcraft 4300 help wanted

I have a 4300 and after blowing compressed air through it( yes I NOW know-not a good idea) it started spewing gas from the top indicating a stuck float(?) any way someone told me it was the rubber seals on the needle/seat? (on mine the washer on the seat are metal on #19) I took it apart and did not see any rubber anything any where- am I missing something??? thanks in advance
