I was on a ride today after hernia survey recovery . I hit a bridge expansion joint that sent the back to the moon . It was so rough it knocked the dash board loose . Man , it’s been a while since I have experienced that feeling
1000cc street cruiser Hello, One day, my brother rode his 1000cc street bike to our old house. His appearance was challenging. His hair had grown, he had a mustache and goatee that we saw after he took off his full face helmet. It certainly was a surprise. Certainly, no longer a flat top buzz cut. Plus, the full body black leather outfit, boots, and his full grey/black helmet with a black shield, made him look as if he stepped off of an illegal rocket to the moon. Our young toddler was impressed. Uncle James? Health wise, he was in fairly good shape, not surfing as much as before, but when the swell was in during the Santa Barbara season, he was out in the water, getting his share of waves. Even in the cold winter waters up North. Again, not as much as before, but still going out in good waves. Jnaki It was one of those weekends that needed a long coastal ride along the shoreline to our small house. A bright sunny day, crystal blue water and not much traffic for him. He was amazed that the coastal traffic after the Los Angeles coastline got less, not more as is the case. Through Newport Beach and Laguna Beach, it was 5th gear cruising at speed. It was a shame to pass by such a nice coastline, but he said he had to make a decision, slow down and check out the views or get up to speed and enjoy the ride… Upon staying with us for a couple of days, he was off to see some friends in San Diego. But, before he left, he gave his helmet to our son and lifted him up on the bike to get a cool photo in our driveway. Earlier in the last day, I was able to get on the street bike and go for a short ride to the ocean in the back streets, with an added high speed power for some adventure. But, it takes all kinds to enjoy that direction of speed and the wind blasting you as your bike leans into a sweeping curve… YRMV Note: That small windscreen does work. It keeps things from flying into your face and makes them go over your face and body when crouched. For normal positioning, it still works but at the normal sit up position, one is not going super fast or faster... Ha!
Besides the Honda......looks like there was lots of "hot rod" action going on over by the barn !! All this Honda talk brings back great memories of the 1967 Honda 305 Scramblers a buddy and I brought back from the dealership in the back of a 1960 Chevrolet pickup with the bikes carefully roped to the sides of the wooden livestock rack.
We had a lot of action going on in that barn. The '37 coupe belonged to a buddy, and we had installed my flathead, my brother Tom had painted it (in the barn) but we got into an argument about who was going to race it, and our partnership dissolved. I put a 54- 324 in the fastback Olds, and did plenty of street racing, and continued on my Cad powered T. Those Honda Scramblers were rugged machines, Brother Jerry had a 250. Looking back, that was probably the best years of my life !
By the time I had enough cash for one of those beautiful 305 scramblers, a BSA "chopper" came along. Right side shift ever since for me.
