Anyone see the new movie “ Bikeriders “? I saw it , lots of cool tin . I saw lots of places I know it was filmed in NKY , Southern Ohio . A few things to take note of for the ones that ride , it’s a bit tough to light the wick without turning on the ign . switch . Also saw one scene with 2 levers of left handle bar . Strange . I liked the movie , lots of fun memories .

A Hot Bike for the times… 2.25 x 2.25 Ektachrome using a Mamiya Twin Lens Reflex camera… Hello, For a time, racer style bikes were built for the Flat track races at our local Ascot Race track in Gardena, CA. It was the center of all track dirt bike racing in So Cal. If you had freeway access, then it was easily reached from any part of the So Cal vast area. Since it was at the crossroad crossing of two of the busiest freeways in all of the freeway system in the greater Los Angeles area. After going to Ascot Raceway Park in Gardena, CA to watch the motorcycle TT races, we got overly psyched from those cool looking Harleys and TT style Triumphs. My brother and I talked a lot about branching out into motorcycles, but the hot rods still were a big part of what we were doing. So, for all purposes, it was part of teenage ideas and perhaps a future for us. But, my new adventures called for a custom motorcycle and a Harley Sportster stopped by for a 6 year visit. During this time, we tried to make it look like the famed TT race bikes, but comfortable for my wife to sit on the back with some support for those long rides. The cool looking single seat pad and or just an addition of a small leather block of cushion was no going to allow my wife to arrive at our road trip destination with a smile on her face. She would have been in anguish, like she was in our garage when we were trying on rear seating arrangement. YRMV The stock seat was the base and we went through plenty of other choices to get it smaller and less is more attitude. So a single seat and a separate wide pad was tried for the form and function. Not a chance for my wife to be comfortable. But, close to a comfortable street bike that looked like a Ascot Park TT racer. We tried the no front fender look and that was ridiculous as the rider got pelted with everything loose on the road ahead. Then larger single seat with a short curved back for the passenger solved the comfort phase, but looked awful in the overall low slung drag bike style. So, out that look went, almost as fast as we could put it on our motorcycle for a fitting. So, back to the single comfortable one piece seat and I designed + made a custom back support for my wife. After we rode around for a while with the comfortable one piece seat, it was fun, but my wife had to hang on to me during the whole ride anywhere along our coastal rides. At each stoplight, if she forgot to hang on tightly, she fell back slightly and if not careful, would have fallen off of the back. Jnaki Now, it was stepping away from the pure TT race bike look, but the goal now was for comfortable rides and arriving safely at our destination. My design was to have a short chrome support that fit the style we were going for as a low slung drag style street bike, not a full fledged tall back support motorcycle we saw in various car/motorcycle shows. It gave my wife a solid back support for long distance rides and when I rode by my self with my camera equipment, that stuff was inside an old army backpack strapped to the chrome bar for a secure location. The stuffed Army backpack actually acted as a secondary back support as the backpack gave a nice cushion support for those long rides up the coast or inland for the longer distance location photo assignments or a ride into greater Los Angeles for the magazine offices. No, the tripod did not make the road trips with me. YRMV
