Yeah how did they get all that shit.seems to me like an inside job.and did this happen at nite or in the daytime?
These guys bought a space and kept setting up in other peoples spots and had to move several times. They finally found a vacant spot near their target and put out some parts on Wednesday. They hung around until everybody left that night. The next morning their parts were still there on the ground , but they were gone and never came back. Luckily several people saw and talked to them. They were in a brown van with New Hampshire tags and they paid for their spot with a check, the cops are on them. What a bunch of idiots, you end up with an odd number of heads when the vendor only puts out one of each style head and thats all you get!
I hate thieves, too and I hope they get these guys. On the other hand-how do you have 10K in parts set out and then not secure them for the night when you leave? I've never been a dealer at a meet, but I believe for 10000 I would load it all back in the truck at night. Or sit out in a lawnchair with a shotgun.
so my post has nothing to do with thieves at moultrie... well lets see.... thieves steal crap you work hard for.... some (and i say "some" before some of you honest vendors jump all over my shit) so some moultrie vendors are awefully "proud" of their crap and by proud i mean their rippin you off! hence thieves! you must be a vendor cosmo merc... no i didnt buy the mirrors, but my point is that if you go to a swap shop/flea you shouldn't expect to pay full price for some crappy shit. c'mon you mean to tell me that most all shit at moultrie was fairly priced??? its buyers responsability and no i didnt buy the ridiculous priced shit, but who the hell expects to pay full price for some rusty crap! Raf-
This is a big boys playground...now pick up your toys and go back to the little fuckers sand pit. Vendors have the right to charge whatever they want and big boys have the right to pass on something if they feel the price is to high end of story. Back on topic........I really feel for those guys who had their gear lifted. I often have 30grand plus in stock at swaps and if I had to pack it all up each night I wouldn't have any time to sell. So far have been lucky. Hope my luck holds
I have sold out at Riverport (sorry don't know what they are calling it this year) swapmeet for years and never really had any problems with theft. That being said all it takes is a couple of a-holes to mess everything up. On the more important subject of overpriced mirrors I charge double sometimes triple for mirrors with original patina and a rusty fender or dented door man that stuff is gold. I have people working all year long f-ing up parts to sell.
We're taking Viagra, lots of it, very soon Miami will be in the mid Atlantic. And 'overpriced mirror boy' you gotta fucked up way of looking at things.
Maybe he didn't like the reflection he seen in the mirror You didn't git ripped off unless you were dumb enuff to pay the high price for it.
Exactly, I can't tell you how many times I hear that, "that guy ripped me off" no, you dumb fuck, you paid too much. Take some more anti-sucker pills before you hit the swap meet next time. And Europeans, man they're either unbelievably rich or they don't understand that haggling is the American way, you don't give 50 cents for a part, you offer 25 cents and settle at 30 cents. As for these 'thefts' something awful fishy's going on.
"oh no now i done did it, i done made the shitty vendors mad" c'mon fellas you mean to tell me that you thought everything was fairly priced at moultrie.... even if you haggled, sometimes you need a part that lat part, and you start to haggle and them SoB's act like you were asking for their wife! please! did i pass on the mirrors hell yes i did, did i pass on overpriced fenders hell yes, did i haggle you betcha. did most vendors get pissed because you didnt pay what they wanted of course. did i care...no now as for the thieves, i hope they catch the SoB's and use and clamp their nuts in a vice. OG patina is one thing, shitty parts are another.
Hey, that's the truth there, water wars are coming. You think I like seeing beautiful areas like Bulow getting developed down here? I'm glad there's a housing slump, I hope it lasts forever and there isn't a new condo or house ever built again. Sorry about that, I always pee eight or nine times in the bowl before I flush.
So if I read this right, the douchbags are about to get busted. Good, they should let the victim shove all 19 of those heads up his ass and then hand him a bill. As for the "mirror boy", it's a flea market! When have you ever been to a flea market where somebody didn't think the "Space Jam" macaroni boxes they have are worth a fortune because they have Micheal Jordan on them? That's the way this shit works. I just bought a whole van load of model A & caddy parts from an estate sale for $25. Many of the parts had really high prices written on them. I put em up on ebay cheap and am doing pretty good so far. If it cost too much today, wait it'll get cheaper...
........"Space Jam "...........ROFLMAO........oh shit......I just spit coke all over the screen on that one !!
And I shit you not, I saw empty cans of Altoids being sold as antiques at Renningers. If you're stupid you will be had.
YEAH NADS! I saw those too! Scored 5 of 'em! I'd have bought them all, but could only afford the 5............. As for swap meet prices, funny thing. Everything Ive ever bought at a swap, I bought 'cuz I got a great deal on it!
I'm sure I will get some negative feedback from this, but here goes. I have been monitoring this site for quite some time and it has become my favorite. I can't begin to count how much good info I have received from the members. This post, however, has been like the little school girl standing in a circle and starts a comment. By time it gets back around to her, it is all out of whack! Man, some of you guys really have your shorts in a wad. I have been to Moultrie on several occasions. No one forced me to by anything. I haven't been to a swap meet yet where there wasn't someone trying to make a fast buck. Usually, they end up taking the parts home with them. End of situation. I hate that such an incident occurred. From reading all of these posts, I imagine the total will be up to a million dollars in a couple of days. The man that started the thread made a SIMPLE comment. Then the smartalecks decide to jump in. If I had to guess, I would bet that this type of incident could happen anywhere, so why start the smart jokes about Georgia, or any other state for that matter. I have enjoyed going to Moultrie and plan to go again. If some people truly had things taken, I feel bad for them. Also, putting on an event like this must be an enormous task. I sure wouldn't want to be burdened with the job. There, I said it. Now, pick on me.
You don't seem to have paid much attention to how we operate. Getting ragged on is a sign of acceptance. I don't mind at all what the Fl. guys say, hell I lived there once. Don't worry, we'll get them back.
Take it like a man, buy thee some chrome smoothies and compete, y'all. There's more than enough room for cheez (sp) here in the South, I couldn't live anywhere else.
Damn,I hate thieves, especially in a setting like that where you have to have some element of trust. I've bought and sold at swap meets for the past 36 years and never had a theft problem although I didn't usually have high ticket items. As far as pricing, Most guys I know figure you have to have somewhere to come down from. I figured that out 30+ years ago at Pate, I couldn't get anyone to look at a rusty T fender for 2.50 so Laddy Segrest tells me I have it too cheap, I made the 2 an 8 and a couple minutes later a couple of guys come along and buy it for 5. That was in 1974 dollars though. As far as high prices being asked for junk. There is an element around that hopes someone is stupid enough to "just have to have that part". to pay the price. Just like some of the asking prices for stuff currently on ebay that is barely scrap metal or good for patch panels. Around here I have seen the same guys pack their same overpriced rusty tin to swapmeets year after year and get a few more dings in in it each trip and not sell much of it. They won't come down on price but always gripe that no one wants pay their price. Now back to the thieves, Someone around has to know that van and the charactors in it. I'd be checking ebay and craigslist in the NH area along with the swap meets in the NE.
I usually see a few vehicles with NH plates on them down here at the shows... I'll keep an eye out for the Van when I go to Sufferinhills(Zephyrhills) in a couple of weeks. I set up at a couple of shows a year and haven't had anything missing, but since I sleep in the back of the Ford when I vend, it's not unusual for me to be sitting in the car at 2am listening to the radio and having a final smoke for the night and seeing a few briars walking around. Anything of value I put in the car at night.
I still find it hard to beleive that they walked out with a truck bed.Its not something that is easy to hide.Even at night.
