I just got the axle back from the sand blaster yesterday. I am going to put a transverse spring set up on this axle. I guess that I will have to figure out what the angle on the rearend will be to mount the spring on it. I read in one post that there should be a slight downwaord angle. I'm a little nervous about this. I'm sure that I have to level the frame and go from there. Any good ideas would be helpful. I will be using a Posie spring. There will be ladder bars to the frame. Right now the Pumkin is out of the axle so it is easy to move arond.

Transverse leaf with ladder bars is not subject to pinion changes from spring wrap, so there should no compensation for that in setting the pinion angle. That's what the "down pinion" thing is about. The theories of pinion angle and how they relate to crank, tailshaft angle have been discussed ad infinitum on this forum. Something to think about-- I make my spring hangers adjustable so I can change the pinion angle slightly if needed. Rather than welded right to the bracket, I use a spring bushing sleeve with a stud welded to it and bolt it through the bracket so it will swivel.
