Hi guys I just bought this 1942 Buick conv today its highly modified. The guy who owned it p***ed away and his wife sold it to me . Anyways I'm trying to find out about the car . They bought it 20 years ago and was told it was from a movie back in the 50's. I wanted to see if anyone recognise it . I'm trying to figure out if the car is a movie star . So if anyone knows the car please let me know also if it is a star what's the movie called? Also I may be selling the car as I just bought it to help her out and get it removed from her garage so she can sell her house.the picture of the guy in the car is 20 years old (as it was in the movie I was told ) the rest are as it sits now IMAG1971_BURST001.jpg IMAG1972_BURST001.jpg IMG9503441.jpg 01414_hIdHq3IdUvg_600x450.jpg 00L0L_e1n9R6dQNsO_600x450.jpg IMAG1971_BURST001.jpg IMAG1972_BURST001.jpg IMG9503441.jpg 01414_hIdHq3IdUvg_600x450.jpg 00L0L_e1n9R6dQNsO_600x450.jpg IMAG1971_BURST001.jpg 00L0L_e1n9R6dQNsO_600x450.jpg

Why three sets of pics? Seems to happen often lately, something in the system that causes it?...On the car it sort of looks familiar but can't say from movie, probably car mag in my case..

The picture with the guy in the car can't be no older than 2004 based on the F-150 in the background.

Yeah but Ford didn't start putting that jog in the lower window frame on the door of F-150's until the 2005 model year so it can't even be that old.

I didn't even notice but she did say they got it 20 years ago and she said this is what it looked like when they got it maybe obviously it's not 20 years ago but maybe just to show what it looked like . So maybe I just misunderstood the picture time frame.

Easy enough to misunderstand or for people to not remember dates correctly. I would get a hold of Rik on the Custom Car Chronicle if he doesn't chime in on this thread.

I don't ever remember seeing a photo of it before but it sure has the makings and potential to be one nifty custom.
To me if it isn't some famous car that might be and advantage to you as no one will have a fit over minor changes you make along the way.

    I think I found it:

Actually, I think your car is pretty cool. I'd probably remove the dip in the door, or at least refine them a bit, but I can see it making a nice custom once again.

The cut down doors mimic Darrin styling on Packard.

Guys I'm on the fence ,I org bought this car for the motor trans and a few other parts that it wasn't using anymore like trim and stuff like that. I wasn't wanting the body but it was an all or nothing I'm looking at this thing and kinda like it was thinking about making a rat rod out of it as I don't have time for anything else . Thinking about cleaning up the body work a bit throwing some clear on it and sticking a Chevy 350 down in it and drive it around . Does anyone want this thing I figure instead of parting it out if someone were to give me $1000 I'll give you everything except the motor and trans or $600 and I'll keep the motor trans and frame so you get the shell there isn't much here to work with no interior no lights wiring ,top ,gl*** steering column, not much at all , on the flip side because I doubt anyone will want it if you need 42 Buick conv parts I have a few things like the grille the roof trim where the top would latch too the upper door panel metal(including the rears I can cut the windshield area off if needed let me know

Ok I think I figured it out why it looks so familiar , it's a copy of a barris car I think some was trying to duplicate gorges first custom I think it's supposed to be a copy of his 41 Buick. Pictures attached . This is probably why she said what she said maybe thinking it was the real car maybe!
