Vet threads get deleted...unless they relate to cars guys had BITD. Okay. American Graffiti is only a movie, but threads last because generally they stick to talk about the cars. Thunder Road. That comes up almost as often as AG. There's another one going now, re hashing the same ****. Various versions of moonshine history, the merits of Elvis rather than Robert Mitchum, Robert Mitchum's brother...oh, and it had a car in it. Why do Thunder Road threads like this live while others don't? Seems it's a protected species for some reason.
Moonshiners were some of the original hot rodders, modifying their cars to avoid the law and prosecution. They were some of the most innovative mechanics to ever tinker with a car. Racers and non-racers have taken inspiration from them for decades. It had more than one car in it. The '57 Ford. the ('50/'51) Ford, the '57 Chevy Fed cars, a sweet '40 Ford Standard Coupe, a '36 Ford 3-window Coupe plus a bunch of '57 Fords used and used up by Kogan's men. Quite a few cars to be seen, some even in the background of scenes. Others that I likely forgot about. I get your point. Neither AG or Thunder Road were specifically about the cars, but they certainly played a pivotal role in both movies.
I get your point too, but most of the thread in question is about pros and cons of various actors, movie roles and non car stuff.
.....Yeah, I get it. I did try to keep it more focused to the cars. Guess we all get a little side-tracked.
Said this before but I really wish this place had an off topic/general ******** forum. I know a lot of the guys here are building off-topic cars and have off-topic knowledge they could share and sure, there's other forums for that stuff, but anything to strengthen community bonds helps... just let it be one big catch-all bucket for off-topic build threads, chatter about movies, questions about clothes to wear in the garage and what have you. Been using internet forums all my life and a lot of important community building and networking happens in the off topic forums. It really helps.
The social groups are good for that but I believe they are going away soon. The antiquated section is great. I have some other interests besides cars and it’s a nice place to see some unique items. Plus, I learn something just about every time I check it out.
