Packin' & Movin' all this junk is a lot less fun than findin' & buyin' it! Trouble is I've not moved stuff across the pond for years. All my Freight connections are gone-- retired, dead, whatever! Stuff needs to go from So Cal to Europe Do any HAMB'rs know any good freight forwardin' guys? Here's photos of some of the lab.Anyone that's been by will tell you there is much much more!
I am within 10 min of LB/LA Harbor Problem is I need an agent here with a partner in the EU to clear the cargo there. Since all the 9/11 stuff things have gotten crazy BTW Matson goes to Honolulu and honestly I don't think asnything I own is going there I haven't planned out the load yet but everything I don't sell is going so something like 8-10 40ft'rs. Because we mostly talk Hot Rods and race cars here you don't know about the other collections Lets just say ''I don't collect baseball cards'' but that's about the only thing I don't The truck is a 1936 Studebaker Ace....anyone know where I can get a front window gasket??
working on it...though it is taking some time. i will hopefully have some information in time for the swap. hope your weekend is going well. - doug
try steele rubber products? they might have whatcha need... never know BTW... 8-10 40" intermodal cans???... HOLY MOTHER OF GOD sir! i load a 48' semi every day, and haul it down to illinois,,, they hold a LOT of stuff you have a sickness for which there is no known cure, and that is the same one i have, i just dont have the money to support it Packrat syndrome Jim, i love gettin sneek peeks into your lab, awesome as always, thanks
i'd pass out from sensory overload, and die slowly, and it would then take the undertaker a month to remove the smile from my face. thats the worst case, but you get the point. i have heard of some of your other "collections". . . guys, he aint shittin when he says "everything but baseball cards" locomotives anyone?
Does BenD have a barge? I'll take the COE for you. Seriously I don't envy you, I moved from alaska to Texas and only brought my tools, left all the cars behind. I still have a couple up there that I may never lay eyes on again.
I'd say buy your own boat, watch out for the pirates. I wonder if the PODS people will ship thier PODS containers over there?
http://www.calship.com/ ask for Ingregerd. Very personable. Spell out your needs just like you told it here, she'll sort it out.
Lets just say ''I don't collect baseball cards'' but that's about the only thing I don't That's the truth. When BobK and I were there last fall on the way back from Ego-Rama we had the pleasure of meeting Bluto and seeing his place. He has some very interesting things and certainly varied interests.
I spoke to these people today. Yes, They sound really helpful. I'll let you all know how it goes.........Thanks This is gonna be a big job And I'm not leaving the HAMB even if I'm outta So Cal
I've posted here from all over the world. Just didn't mention it I actually have better internet connection in Poland than here at 1/2 the price. This move is about not leaving my wife alone in So Cal with all this junk when the big on finally takes me. She enjoys and is interested in all this stuff. We have been friends for almost 20 years. I want her to be able to lock the door on the collection and not have to deal with it all AND movin' home!! There are good friends that would help her but that's not fair to them either. We'll still be back here a bunch.... B'ville and such I've seen too many guys die leaving a real mess for their loved ones My health has been shit. This move just makes me feel like I'm being responsable. Very rare for me
Jim, You are one class act! You are a roll model for all of us. If you are still packing around Fathers Day, I'll stop in and help when I'm out your way.
