I have purchased a 3 inch chopped model a radiator it has a radiator cap on the backside. My mechanical fan is hitting it I don't wanna run an electric fan and it clears my radiator hoses. My question is can I take the fill cap off the backside and weld the hole shut and put a radiator cap back on top or is it there for a reason??? Thanks in advance for the help

Would work fine if you have the room.. Glad you're using a mechanical fan.......

  3. I did the same thing on my Model A radiator. You can check my build thread for pictures of how I did it.

  5. You actually solder it, welding brass is not real easy and it will get it hot rnough to melt the solder joints in the radiator.

The reason that after market radiators put the filler on the back side is that a lot of fellas run a filled grill shell, no reason it won't work on the top of the tank if you have a way to get to it to fill it.
