Moving headlights on a 39 olds

GM Design Studio Cars or General Motors Art and Colour Division. This department was responsible for GM Auto Designs.
The head of this department was Harley J. Earl. This is the same guy that brought us the GM Moto-rama Cars such as the 53 Vette , The buick Y-job and many more.

I must say I rather like the square grilles. They give a very Oldsmobilish look. I'd be more inclined to lose the headlights instead - by relocating them behind the grilles. A quick Photoshop:
