anybody know of / remember Mr. 40's Fat Stuff in San Luis Obispo? They had some good products. Did they move / close ? thanks
Here is the story on that... My buddies dad owned Mr. 40's.. He died unexpectantly a couple years ago. After that happened all the parts went to a buddy of his dad's. He now sells what was left is my understanding. My buddy has one great legacy left to him in the form of a 40 ford convertible rod built back in the day and he only likes to build 40's fords. EVILT
I still have a 1995 catalog and there is a picture inside the cover of Art Branum with his son(?) standing beside a '39 sedan convertible. "One of only 6 created fot the 1939 World's Fair...." Is that the one he has? Looks like Art was a BIG man from the picture. How would one contact the parts seller? thanks for the info
www.mr40s.com His daughter is doing the business and doing it very well. She works diligently and deserves your business. She lives just south of Fresno CA. Look at the website.
One of his sons lives 3 blocks from my house and is a friend of mine. That is him in the picture next to the convertible. It was a 39 (not a40)..EVILT
I thought the same. I am sure that I bought from them after Art p***ed and the guy on the phone said he was a son. I had spoken with Art a few times over the years when ordering parts and found him to be a super guy. I have the three Bell 40 prints that I bought from them on my shop wall.
They made 3,561 Ford Deluxe Convertible Fodor Sedans in 1939, not 6. Art used to say he had one of the 6, 1940 Convertible Sedans ever produced. Ford destroyed the other five, and some how his escaped that fate. Ford discontinued the Convertible line for 1940, because of low sales for the model. Art was a a great guy, we rented a big house together with our girl friends in Fresno, when we were both going through divorces.
Just got off the phone with Duffy, who is the son of the company's founder, had a nice long conversation with him, and ordered his battery box as suggested by "Ol' Scrounger" here on HAMB, to move the battery on my '40 out from under the hood to inside the right front fender.
Battery box arrived promptly, and is an obviously well made, quality product worth it's cost, at least to me.
