I'm contemplating changing the tube axle (mild steel, heavy wall) and oem type GM disc brakes in my Willys to a Moly axle and Wilwood brake pieces (hubs, rotors, calipers) for safety and weight considerations. I want to retain the '53 Chevy spindles and the current steering set up....cross steer, Vega box.

Wilwood tells me they have no pieces to do this, though the tech/sales guy at Speedway claims their Mr. Roadster line offers this exact package of components, allowing for this changeover, using "mostly" Wilwood pieces. The hubs are "Mr. Roadster" brand.

Anyone have any first hand usage/knowledge of the Mr. Roadster line? Maybe even of this particular application?

  2. I have used mr.roadster quit a bit its pretty good stuff i think but every guy has his own opinion if you look at the 55 in my pics its all speedway and mr roadster items !! I have done 4 axle swaps in the past on gassers but if you buy it from speedway make sure nothing is on back order i have had to wait weeks on little parts to put my axle under a car before !!

When I rebuilt the front end in my old 48 Austin I used all Speedway/Mr.Roadster parts. I didnt have any problem with any of the parts and fit together very well.....
