It is a allot of green, I will admit that..... but I can't repaint the plates....I wouldn't dare. Those are ORIGINAL and UN-RESTORED 1917 Oregon plates...and to top it off, it's a matching pair.

In addition, if the plate is NOT the original issued colors, the state of Oregon will not allow us to license the car under them. The even bitched at me about the '26 plates on my roadster...which are also un-restored originals, saying "these have been repainted, the colors are the wrong shade"

....really? they are ORIGINAL plates and they might have faded a little....besides were you alive back then? .....anyway, I digest :D

There are plenty orange details to come yet, but as I have always joked with Chris...on this T, we really went "green" ;)

I now understand for sure!! Well a Orange wheels? Not the spokes - Something -
To nice not to have the complete WOW factor of the era of time factor of the build.

Doing the demountable split rims in orange would be a bit too much orange in my opinion. The green was supposed to be a really snappy stand-out color...a little "in your face". The rear end of the car, the hood and fenders are still lacking their orange pin striping, which I feel is just the right amount of off-set to the green. The spare rims will have an orange pinstripe running around the perimeter...with other little orange details on the tail lamp, etc.

It will certainly have plenty of "WOW" factor when the rest of the body and fenders are in green, the orange striping is in place and all the brass work is polished up....it's gonna look sharp! :D

I was quite pleased myself at how the hood turned out thus far, the fit is almost spot on!

We still have plenty more to do....but not bad for a bunch of cardboard and fiberglass

    Thanks Casey,

We keep plugging away each weekend.Progress has been a little slow with Clayton moving a new girlfriend and tearing into his car. Work is still keeping me busy with to much overtime, but hopefully this weekend we can start the painting process and the road to final test runs.

As Chris said, both the "Becker Special" and my Roadster will be on hand for Speed Week next year, so make sure to find us....don't think we'll be hard to find

Also looking forward to seeing your LSR '61 in action!

Things have been busy in the last little while, but as Chris said...we are making progress, slow but sure!

    *UPDATE*
The Spare Tire Carrier is FINISHED!!!

That is right all, The carrier is finally finished....and probably way over built, but so what :D

Chris tackled the last of the bracing Saturday morning got it all bolted in place...now it is stout enough to hold me up...standing on the spare ;)

The inner bracing ties and triangulates the spare tire carrier to the rear cross member...

Chris also took advantage of the nice weather we had Sunday to get a few outside photos for our H.A.M.B. audience....

Carston was having fun pretending to be Ralph De Palma!!!

To do list: 1. Re cut and Reshape hood.
    2. Make windshield pattern.
    3. Redo rear suspension.
    4. Get carb dialed in.
    5. Front license plate bracket.
    6. Fix temporary starter with a new one.
After those minor things get it ready for paint and upholstry.

Can't wait to get in color hopefully by Christmas!!

Chris, Maybe he will get hooked on Speedsters at a very early age. Need to get him started on mechanic duties. Grandpa would be a very happy man.

Chris, These pictures are priceless. I believe you can see the energy and joy your father had in your sons eyes.

I didn't know your dad but I really miss your dad. He was great inspiration for you and Clayton.

    With great respect . . .

    *UPDATE*
More fun with the hood and a front license plate bracket

We also managed to make some decent progress on the "Special" this weekend. I floated between my roadster and making the front license plate bracket to hold the front 1917 Oregon plate and the bronze medallion from the H.C.C.A (Horseless Carriage Club of America) Mt. Hood tour in 1971 which was one of Bills favorite car tours.

    Here were my exploits:

While I worked on this, Chris worked on improving the hood sides. We had encountered some clearance issues, so we decided to put the hinge point about 2 inches below the crease line of the hood. Chris fab'ed up some adapters from sheet metal. He also knocked out a template for the windshield for me to take in a have cut from safety glass.

Clayton and Chris, Loving all the details as you finish the mockup / build. Can't wait until the last coat of green is dry. Just the perfect color for this speedster !

    *UPDATE*
More work on the hood sides.

Monday was a slow day for progress on the "Special", but Chris managed to make some more progress after work just the same. He spent the evening finishing up and glassing in the new hood side adapters seen in our last update:
