Well I can't get the pictures off the camera, darn it any way. I got the lower bracket for the alternator finished and bolted in place. Started on the upper one and did not get it finished. I still need to build a custom pulley for it and find the right size flat belt for it.

Just got done Rebuilding the Holley 94 carb and remounted it. I also installed SuceyNordicTarts fuel regulator, made some new fuel lines, set at 2 psi. Seem to hold all right. Tried to start the "Special" and the damn foot electric starter decided to give up the ghost.

Sunday morning went to NAPA and picked up a generic 1980's-90's Ford starter solenoid, some heavy duty wire and a heavy duty push button switch for my ignition switch. Wired it up this afternoon and all it did was go Buzz!!! buzz!!! So now on to checking the system. Got the good old OHM meter out and started checking connections.

I discovered the solenoid had a bad ground. I moved it off the wood body to the side of the frame rail, fixed that problem. Did some more checking found a bad main ground wire to the battery and the battery terminals were horribly corroded. Fixed all that and found out the battery was half dead, great! Put the charger on for a little assist and got the solenoid to finally work and turn the motor over Hurray!!!! Left the trickle charger on overnight and will try again tomorrow after work.

So during this week hopefully I can get the picture off of my I phone and loaded up so you can see them. Will talk to my Father-in-law Jim and see if I can get him over in the next couple of days the fit the hood. I really need to finish it up so I can get the paint process started. Sometimes it seems like this project will never be done.

Chris, Don't get to concerned with this. A couple of my new threads that I loaded pix to - don't show pictures now. Just a read outlined rectangle with a Red X in a box in the upper left corner. Must be doing something wrong . . . . .

Well we got the "Special" running today. I actually took it down the street under it's own power and got close to 50 mph.

Chris, Good to hear that the "Special" is back up and running. Probably makes you feel 10 years younger when it rumbles to life. Looking forward to hearing it run at Bonneville.

I was quite pleased with the outcome. The "Special" actally runs better now then it ever has ....float level was the key.

The beauty of early technology. You don't have to be a computer scientist to fix problems.:D

Well I had part of the day off. My mom's car developed a electrical problem last night so I got it fixed and had just enough time to go and build my alternator pulley. So here is the finished pulley ..... 3.5 inches in dia. By 1.5 inches wide.

Chris, Can't see the pix, but you must have some good - no great skills with the lathe. Hope I can see how it turned out. When will you be shooting some color for the Special ? Who does your upholstery ? Bet it is going to be one sharp Speedster !

    Hey Mac,
It's good to hear from you again. It actually took three of us to figure it out. Clayton and Brian doing the work, and me being supervisor not knowing much about Carb is a draw back!!!

    64 440,
Yeah a little tweak here, a little tweak there, and boom it's done.

    Dave,
As soon as the hood is done, I can start taking it apart for paint and final rear suspension mods. As for upholstery, Mom, my sister Susan and Melissa are going to be doing it. Upholstery will be a OD green canvasand black piping.

Dave I can see the pic on my computer. I called Clayton to see if he can see them if not I'll try to re-post them. Sorry about that Dave.

Clayton, I can see your pix just fine. I don't know the difference between your pix and Chris's - Just can't see the ones that Chris uploads. My buddy "Zibo" loads pix and I can see them just fine. Lots of other threads that I can't see . . . . Big dark mystery . . . . .

Chris, By the way your pulley for the alternator came out really clean looking. May have to learn how to run a lathe . . . . Probably not . . . .

    Hi Dave,

Thanks, you might just have to learn how to run a lathe... I'll try to post these current pictures up. Hopefully you can see them. Yesterday afternoon I got the alternator mounted up permanently.

Ah :D.....well don't really want to change it.....gives a good, odd contrast to the green and orange.

    ...Besides, I like it :D

  23. Good choice of words- "odd"- hey man, whatever floats your boat... not like I'm gonna fly across the continent with a can of Krylon any time soon :D

Rebuilt a VW one time and painted every piece of sheet metal in the engine compartment a different color. Always made me smile when I checked the oil.:D

Mac, my Mom disagrees with you . She likes the engine color but hates the Puke Green are painting it. I'd like to see you get on a plane with a can of Krylon!! I don't think you would make it very far.

Tom, I can see you doing that !!!!

  27. Chris,

I know you two are set on the green... so I figured I'd go after something a little easier to repaint :)

  28. I don't think it looks like puke green at all. I like everything you have done so far.

    Fred,

I am glad you like what we've done so far. I haven't forgot about those dimensions the Mighty White. Clayton getting me what you need so I can get back to you.

Chris, Long time no speak. Hope all is well with you and your family.

Any update on the hood that your friend was going to help you with ? Did you ever find someone to louver the side panels ?

    Dave
