*UPDATE* We have a sandblasted Falcon! Finally, after weeks of getting everything ready...and having things get in the way...I finally got to blast the Falcon Body last weekend! Here are some shots of the days work: I was really happy with how solid the car still is, even though it does have some rot in the floors. Now i have some work to do! More to come....
Clayton, That is the only way to build a super clean restoration. When I restored my '41 Ford Tudor in '91 we used a undercoating out of a spray can and then painted it all the same color as the body (French Vanilla) . Sure came out very clean. Also easy to keep up with. Have fun with your Falcon build. Dave
I almost bought a '64 mordor the other day I saw it as a nosebleeder with F3 axle/springs up front and a Chrysler 383 set back into the firewall.....unfortunately the frame was just a bit too rotten.......any updates Clayton?
A more-door g***er? Interesting! There have been a few updates....quite a few actually, but between life, kids, my trip to Race of Gentleman and troubles getting used to this new format......I haven't been here much. I have now concurred my issues and figured how to post pictures again....I will be updating this thread and a few others. I will say that the project has changed gears again, this time to get back to its roots....to what I really wanted. The V8 plan was starting to get way out of hand...and out of the budget and it was really turning into something I didn't really want. It wasn't me or my car. It really started to become a compe***ion for or a "one up" on my T....and that's not what I wanted. As a result...it really killer my project "Mojo" like bad writer's block, so I stepped away. Then it dawned on me....I genuinely missed the simplicity, the sound, the feel, the good memories and the true pleasure I got from driving it exactly as it was....a simple 6-cyl, 3-speed sedan. Why not just go back to basics and fix a few small things along the way? Now I had my Mojo back. I secured a rare '65 Date code 7-main 200 6 from Bigcheese 327 at TROG and a unique T86/R10 3-speed OD transmission to round out the goodies I had already. The motor is in the works, bodywork is underway and we might have it in paint by July. That is the abridged version...but I promise some more comprehensive "back issue" updates for sure... Stay Tuned!
I really do enjoy your threads you have a every good way of writing . Do it simply and you'll enjoy the car more.you don't seem to be one for a lot of way off the beaten path mods. And that is a hell of a nice body it'd be like working on a almost new car up here. Any ways I'm going along for the ride so many pictures please .Roger
There has been quite a bit going on here as I mentioned before...but I still managed to make some progress in the right direction. As I mentioned in my previous update, the project had changed directions and was now more on track with its roots. The Paxton supercharged 289 and T-5 have given way to a much more subdue, yet more correct June-1965 date coded 7-main 200 6-cylinder. This motor was a gorgeous complete engine courtesy of Bigcheese327's collection of Ford 6s. It will remain mostly stock...including the single bbl carb, but there will be plenty of mods. Some of these are a Clay Smith cam, Ford Tempo flat top pistons and a Carter YF carb. The other major addition for the car is the return of its 3-speed column shift transmission. I loved this about the car originally... So it had to stay, but really needed an overdrive. Bigcheese327 also donated a nearly perfect Borg Warner T86/R10 3-speed of trans from a '57 Fairlane. These gearboxes were optional on the larger Ford cars and trucks through 1972. In the midst of all this machine work, engines, transmissions...I also found time to plow forward on the bodywork. So far I have the floors, rear quarters and part of the trunk section patched. The goal is color on the next 6 months. More to come...so stay tuned!
