Here is a question for all you flathead nuts: I picked up this transmission at the Portland swap meet for the project, but I am having a hard time identifying it. The 48-7006 case number denotes it as a 1935-36 case and the spur-cut 1st and reverse gears narrow it down to being a '35 box...but the shifter housing is very different from any other I have seen on a ford box. I know what the early and later style housings look like, but this is neither.....can you guys I.D. it?
I was always under the impression Ford had 2 top shift housings (used in the cars from '32 to '39 and 1/2 ton trucks through the late 40's), an early and a late style...both of which were not angled.
There were the early angled type thru 35 then the single detent types then the double detent types used up to 1951 in pick-ups.
Here is a HAMB thread from '08 trying to id a possible '39 Ford transmission which has an angled shifter housing. Could it be a '39 shifter housing on your '36 case? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=275346
Thank you for the link! It is possible, I just have not found mention of this type of shift housing in any of my literature.
That does help and make sense, since mine is a '35 gearbox...it's just odd that I don't find it anywhere in my flathead stuff..
