Does anyone know for sure?? It's too late to call them and we're goign racing tomorrow. So has anyone ever used these INTERCHANGEABLY - my buddy has some MSD chips and I have an AUTOMETER shift light I'd like to try them in. I don't have a tach so I can't watch it to make sure they work at the right RPM.
The chips are only resistors with certain ohms. If the resistance is the same then they are interchangeable. I have made adjustable chips out of potentiometers. Here's the MSD ohms per rpm RPM RESISTANCE 9000 8291.1 8900 8144.4 8800 7999.6 8700 7656.6 8600 7715.4 8500 7546.0 8400 7438.3 8300 7302.2 8200 7167.9 8100 7035.1 8000 6904.4 7900 6774.4 7800 6846.4 7700 6519.9 7600 6394.9 7500 6271.4 7400 6149.3 7300 6028.6 7200 5909.3 7100 5791.3 7000 5674.7 6900 5559.5 6800 5445.5 6700 5332.8 6600 5221.3 6500 5111.1 6400 5002.1 6300 4894.3 6200 4787.7 6100 4662.2 6000 4577.9
Thanks for the detailed response!!! I understand the resistance part - I was wondering if they use the same scale -for example: is a 6000 rpm chip the same resistance from BOTH manufacturers.
