I need someone to checkout and repair a msd distributor and not msd, since they got bought out I have no luck getting them on the phone or anything else. Any good ideas?

no good ideas, but I have a bad idea, which is what I'd do....

find an old point distributor, and put that in the car. Your electronics issues will be gone.

Put the stock points system back in. If its a Chevy your really in luck, they have some nice factory distributors. I would look for the iron units. You could also get one with the manual tack take off. My favorite is the single points distributor triggering a CD box. That ignition will last a long time and is so easy to troubleshoot..

Points dont do good at high rpms and I have 3 chevy tach drive distributors but they always mess up at a bad time and they are hard to get to behind a injector

  5. says the guy who runs 10s on points.

This is good advice but if the distributer has problems and you are married to it your best bet is to find the parts and fix it yourself. It is basically a control mod and tune up parts right?

  6. Holley bought out MSD, might be worth a try searching their trouble shooting links. Might even have a recondition dept. Doubtful but what the hell.

I guess that depends what you mean by "high rpms".

If you are going to stick with the MSD, and you can't get any support for it, then you're stuck with having to buy replacement parts and see which one fixes the problem. Good luck.

I'd run a vertex hand's down, But... Pertronix is a simple way to keep it "modern"... Never had an issue with them myself... Results may vary
