So I got a Unisteer unit from P&J’s. I want to replace it with a Vega box. Which is the better box? The Mullins which P&J’s sells or a Borgeson 140. ?
    Thanks in advance :)

  2. I think Borgeson and Mullins are the same company now, Dean, so I'm guessing it's a toss up between the two. Both are versions of the old Vega box.

Thanks Don, I’m exchanging the rack I got from P&J’s for a Vega box. They only sell the Mullins box so that’s what I’ll be getting. I’m open to getting the Borgeson if it’s better.
Unfortunately the Unisteer unit started leaking on me before I got the car on the road ! The drag link is too long as well so its going back

  4. .........Sorry to hear that, Dean, as my pal, Tom, is using the Unisteer unit that he got with the P & J frame as well. No sign of a leak yet, but it hasn't been driven and subjected to the rigors of the Maryland roads yet.

Borgeson bought Mullins near 20 years ago. The Borgeson/Mullins vega is all new parts and an excellent (though pricey) piece. I’m running one in my 32 and it steers great.

The frame under my '30/31 "A" Hiboy is also P&J with B-M box. Had it several years and it's a great box.
A friend built a Deuce 5wdw and used a no name E-Bay imitation of a Vega box made in China and it gave up the ghost in short order. Now replaced with B-M which works great.

  10. Yep, I've got a Borgeson in my '32 and I am quite happy with it.

The Unisteer unit is an interesting item.I currently have one installed on my '28 Tudor. Seemed like a nice idea. It didn't at first work well at all but the installation of the jeep double end tie rod really helped with the very bad turning radius.
No leaks so far but.....I have had Vega boxes and I prefer them over the Unisteer.
Should the Unisteer fail......it's a Vega box for sure!
