Mines leaking from the front area, the rear seal would have been to easy. I've driven my roadster about 500 feet, some progress I guess, but i'm really over it at this point, gas tank leaked, radiator leaked, brake lines leaked, tripower carbs leaked (before the new fuel pump died altogether). Currently the fresh rebuilt 327 is slinging oil from the front seal somehow, even after sleeving the balancer, and now the Muncie is leaking from the front. I think I read some muncies dont have a front seal, this one is from a 64 corvette, does it have a seal, and is it tough to change? Thanks for any help, my 10 year old daughter is having major surgery on her spine Tuesday and it was my goal to give her a ride before she's down for a few months. doubtful now, I have never had a car fight me like this stupid car...
I've never seen a front seal in a muncie, they use a slinger that is a wierd tapered nut that some guys put on backwards.....leaks are common. also the countershaft hole (steel shaft press fit in aluminum case) gets loose and it'll leak oil there.
Timekin sells a front seal for a 1964 thru 1971 full sized muncie 4 speed. I found them on e-bay before. My prayers for your daughters speed recovery.
