On the input shaft bearing retainer, what is the thinner gasket that comes in the standard rebuild kit??

I just stripped out and had to helicoil a thread on my M22 while installing the french locks so i'm gunna just make up a new gasket to replace the one i destroyed since i dont want to wait for the parts store/postman

I think you could just use rtv as long as the bearing retainer ring does not stik up above the gasket surface when seated..

Then a thick enough gasket to make up for it, like measure the snap ring, depth of recess, subtract the bigger fro m the smaller then make a gasket about .010 thicker..

What I do is install the front bearing retainer and tighten the bolts slightly. Then see how much clearance is between the case and retainer. I usually make a gasket from an office file folder and use Permatex #2 sealer.
Most of the gaskets that come in rebuild kits are too thick and when used, the front bearing can walk back and forth somewhat and also the outer race can spin in the case while driving. That can cause the case bore to wear and also cause excessive clearance in the 4th syncro.
I have seen a number cases where the bore was badly worn from the bearing spinning and a previous rebuilder dutched the bore with a center punch to make the bearing fit tighter. that's a poor way of fixing a case.
