So does anyone have any hot tips on a good Muncie gettin' spot. I've been looking for a M22 or a M21 for my truck and the first of the two is a small fortune no matter where you find one and the M21 is not far behind. If I'm gonna shell that kind of cash I want to go somewhere reputable. Who's got the ticket?
Google AutoGear. I bought mine from them. 100% NEW using improved parts. Way stronger than original. I got the M21 overdrive for $1865 incl shipping. They have an M22 also. Well worth the money. No rebuilders for me, thanks.
Gonna be hard to find a good M-22 for $1300, but if ya do...pick it up. Be sure it's an M-22, tho', anybody can put M-20 gears in another case. I've also seen where some guys have re-stamped M-20 and M-21 cases. You gotta pull the side cover off and inspect the gears to be sure

If you really want an M22 - they make new ge****ts fo them now - about $800, I think. So you can get an old, cheap M20 and rebuild into an M22. I did that and used it in a road race Corvette (540 HP small block) - worked great ! Got my ge****t from Zumbrota Bearing & Gear (800-658-25370) - who used to sell on Ebay, but I haven't seen them for a while, but other companies sell them on Ebay. I think two companies make ge****ts now - one in Europe (Italy?) which is the one I got - really good quality - and one in the far east - which I know nothing about. Original M22's are really bid up by the muscle car restorers !
All the Muncie gears are from Italy now with Auto Gear being the primary importer of the entire line. The specialize in circle track applications and restorations. The do a lot more than Muncie transmissions, too. http://autogear.net/
