Ian, you are very talented. I think its awesome to see someone do this in their own driveway. What an inspiration!! I've heard people say its just metal if you screw it up just take it out and try again, but your stuff looks so nice it looks factory! It's too bad you didn't work for Chevrolet back in the day they could have made some bitch'n cars even though I still like the stock look on some. You should make a build book on your next project and sell it, I'm sure a lot of Hambr's would buy it, I know I would! Well just wanted to say you did a hell of a job and its nice to see a regular guy do amazing things.:)

DustDevil, Thank you so much and i'm so happy of the response i got from all you guys, Thank you!! As you probably know, this is my 3rd chop and im still learning a lot, so i think making a book would not be a good idea right now, but who knows? Maybe in the future. There are no real good books about 49 54 chevy for all the different models, sedan , coupe, hard tops, etc... That would be a great idea for anybody to put out. I'm sure somebody is probably working on one right now!! LOL!! :D

But i'm extremely flattered by all the positive comments i got, coming from a bunch of super talented builders and hobbyists. It keeps one motivated for sure!!!:)

    Thank god i didn't fuck up Munster's car!!!!
I couldn't have lived with myself!!!:(

    Later brotha!!

BTW, Don't do what i did with the wing windows. I should have cut where the door top was cut, the find the section of the wing window that fits the curve of the door top and weld it. All these pie cuts are a real pain to finish right!!

Hey man, I've been reading the updates and watching the progress here on the Right Coast and just amazed with your work. Excellent chop and the stance on the car is flat out badass!!! Keep the updates coming.

what i did with my vent windows was make a template of what shape they needed to be
cut that shape outta sheet metal thats a little on the thicker side
put it in a vice front facing up and layed the ventwindow on top and heated and hammered into shape no cuts other then makeing it a lil shorter

  27. I did mine a little while back.
I searched through some older threads but all the pics were dead.

I bent mine, slowly and carefully to keep it from kinking. I have no way of welging SST.

The top hinge bracket thing is a bit boogered up where I bent it, but it hides well.
I used regular pop rivits to put that back toghether.

    Maybe these will help.

Ian, you have inspired me brother. I can't wait to get a early 50's GM car to cut on myself. I have been into all kinds of customs cars over the years, but your chop threads have made me remember why I got interested in the automobile in the first place! Thank you!

really clean, this will be one of the neatest 49/52s around
i really like how he roof stands in the middle of the car.
    Perfect proportion.
Y'know what else is kool? This pic here of the work bench w/ a pack of
smokes, its very representative of backyard engineering in my sick mind.:)
i tend to smoke more while im at it in the garage than in any other situation....
