It's about fucking time somebody post ,real car shit instead of the Crap that has been on here. Thanks man, you rule.....................
must be getting a lot of turbulant air around the wheels then to go to so much trouble ! still, it's an awsome looking car . . Keith
I was lucky enough to meet Jim and see the car in person in 2004. The man is a humble genius and the car is pure art.
Got a few hours to spare? Open the link. Get comfortable because you'll be there awhile...great stuff!
Thanks Cole! Makes me proud, as a NW guy. This strikes me as a much refined version of the Noel Black and Bert Peterson (B&N Automotive) streamliner. I'm doing a story on that one right now. But this one is light years away from it, in most regards. I'll be following this. Thanks again. Scotty
Agreed ... I was on the "Target 550 MPH" website for over 2 hours after Cole posted the link this morning. There's lots of great info (& insight into Mr. Hume) in Mr. Freudenberger's interview videos: <object width="500" height="405"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9sz1xfuBHPs&hl=en_US&fs=1&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9sz1xfuBHPs&hl=en_US&fs=1&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="500" height="405"></embed></object> <object width="500" height="405"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/U_iyYxrXuoQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/U_iyYxrXuoQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="500" height="405"></embed></object> <object width="500" height="405"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vSmYKObDhbg&hl=en_US&fs=1&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vSmYKObDhbg&hl=en_US&fs=1&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="500" height="405"></embed></object> Mr. Foster ... Thanks for the link ... Glad I don't have to quit the H.A.M.B.! Also ... there's circa 2004 pics of the build on the Metalshapers Association website ... just click HERE, HERE & HERE.
That's amazing....thanks for the link! I bet you're both right. And I'm thinking that the more space in the body there is for air to get trapped, the more chance there is for it to create lift. Also, any air that gets under the car has to get out somehow.
Amazing craftsmanship. All that knowledge, all that talent focused on going fast. Thanks for the link. Terry
All three I expect, with the last point (I'm guessing) being that depending on the gauge thickness around the main perimeter of the cylinder it would be a form of 'insurance' (think along the lines of a scattershield) should one of those wheel assemblies lets go, considering the expected rpm they'd be cranking at.... Great thread, awesome at so many levels, just the workmanship and design exhibited everywhere is amazing. ROCK on... Cheers, Drewfus
Cole, That was cool. Hume is awesome on tin, but Marlo is quite the character. I used to go by his booth each year at the Portland Swapmeet to get a chuckle with him and his crew there. Always an interesting time to say the least. Good luck to their adventure. They told me about it years ago and I have been waiting to see it at Bonneville. Any idea when it will debut?
All I can say is WOW!!!! Thanks Cole. With the quality of your work, for you to be impressed with someones elses work...I HAD to check it out! Well worth the time spent.
