Theres some great stuff coming to the salt this year... Hanna, Treit, Poteet and all . My money is on the Speed.Demon this year. It takes a lot of years to work out the bugs. Poteet and Main are about there.
Marlo is also a very knowledgeable Early Hemi guy who i can thank for passing on a lot of info years ago when most 'rodders' down this way thought Hemi's came out of Chrysler valiants. He also Flew a Mig Fighter for entertainment !!!!! http://bellinghamherald.serramedia.com/content/fastest-car-world
There's a new batch of photos on the www.target550.com site. I'm their designated "web elf" and in addition to the new batch there are some other changes that otta make the site easier to navigate. This project is gaining momentum and dates for a trial run are being mentioned. No firm dates, but it's on the horizon. The trial run won't be on the salt but on a long stretch of pavement. Stay tuned.
Awesome... Is this the same car Mike Bishop was talking about a while ago? It looks similar... On a side note... How do you know you're a hot rodder on a tight budget? Answer: When you look at the pics and go: "Jeesus! I wonder how much he has in tubing alone?" That thing looks solid as hell. I hope he posts first-fire videos.
Back up . I can't believe that something this incredible has been buried since January here on the HAMB. I stumbled across this while searching Coles posts. This is a true work of LSR art. Here is the link again. http://www.target550.com/
I am sorry Lippy. But if you want to run that bike at a LSR event. The toilet paper will have to be mounted in the rear of the bike. If that blew up in your face and gets stuck in the sweat, there is a possibility of a crash. Other than that looks good ; good luck on your record!!!
The wheel encosures are all about aero. The tighter you wheel enclosure the better, you tire creates friction with the air called 'pumping losses' as it churnes a tornado of HP dragging around the tire once you get going faster than a YUGO, which they will do, it becomes a huge power leach. Take a close look at the front fender of a pro stock motorcycle , they have a trick air damn/spatula that 'cuts' teh air off the tire to reduce the loss....One thing we have to deal with on the salt is salt build up in the wheelwell as well, depending on your design it can build up so much in a run it will hit the tire...so the inside of your wheel well has to be aero as well....to put it simply when you start going fast, air is a bitch. or it could be that bellbottoms are out this year and the tight ankle pants are back in so they had to do it that way, they will have pennys in their race boots...more likely the case. But yes, those guys have...you know...Skills.... Hans
One of the best articles I have read this year. What a build and it would be fun to know how many man hours they have in this monster. Thanks for posting for us to drool over.
Back up so some people can learn what the HAMB is all about. Building shit that counts, handmade and raced with the right hand pedal to the floor and the left one out as quick as you can.
Sorry for posting in an old thread but that is so awesome. What I can't get over is the skill gone into some of the tanks used in the car. Either my eyes are playing tricks on me or you cannot see the welds I hope oneday learn how to do that. I find it amazing the tank guys who can hide the welds on those tanks when you can't get anything in there to hammer out the welds I guess you could grind them down but it just looked perfect in those pictures. .
