ok - it was posted last year..........

but let's see what we think the must see car shows are for 2009.

I think Greaserama, The Cheaters Car Show in Milwaukee, Hunnert, are 3 shows right off the top of my head that are good.

I may try to get to a Billetproof show as well........just that they are kinda far away and the Detroit show always seems to fall on Indy Good Guys.

Also corporate shows that I will go to are the Louisville Nationals (NSRA), Columbus & Des Moines Good Guys, and Detroit Autorama. And possibly Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green KY.

For me these are great shows to be a fan........
for selling - I have an entirely different list.

Look forward to hearing what you input.

Rust Revival in Wayland,MO...I believe it's May 30th 2009 with a pre-party the 29th...I don't recall what the car count is for the show, somewhere near 100-150ish, breeder would have a better idea...

:D It's funny to see others people "must do" list.

The HAMB Drags, LoneStar RoundUp, and Jalopy Showdown are musts with the fun factor at these events being off the chart.

Add Dixie Fried in Atlanta to the list. 2 day show (Labour Day weekend) with I dunno how many cars, tons of bands, movies, drunken foolery. It's a good one and getting better every year.

The Jalopy Showdown and the Billet Proof show in Florida are by far the funnest shows/road trips I have ever had.

  15. Hey Tracy, when and where is the Jalopy Showdown? Always has looked like a fun event and one we've never been to. :)

Middle of May in PA. I believe the little town might be called Latimore.

It is close to Williams Grove Speedway, which is one of the reasons it is so much fun fro me. I got to go the Museum, the show, get my car muddy, and an outlaws race at the Grove all in one weekend.

Yeah, The Jalopy Showdown Drags at Beaver Springs Dragway is the weekend of Oct 4. The actual show and race is Saturday, but folks can come Friday night to set up and camp over and watch the Friday night street racing program going on. If you get there aby around 7PM you can pay to test and run your car the night before the Showdown Drags on Saturday. The car show and drag racing takes place on Saturday. This year the format has been improved and is sure to be a hit with both racers with bracket racing experience and for the novice racer too. Heads up classes will still be a significant part of the event and the lanes will be open most of the day to accommadate guys who just want to match race their buddies in between of time shots. The first event had 80 cars. Since the Latimore sister event draws 250+ cars, this years Showdown drags is anticipated to double, if not almost triple in size. After the drag racing ends about 5PM, the place will be open for cruising the drag strip. Then at 8PM, a special night life segment will start that will include the 2nd annual Flashbike Drags, whch is heads up pedal bike racing under the lights at night started by a flashlight and eye judged for the winner at the 200foot mark. Its a hoot to watch and take part in a great way to put the event to rest. Its also a fun class for both kids and adults to participate in. This year another special segment is in the works to add to the night life segment of the event for those that are staying all weekend to "live the Kulture" On Sunday, the track has a test and tune session which is free for spectators to attend and so know one camping over has to get up early to leave or pay to stay to watch the test and tune session. So even though its a one day show, its a 3 day event that is sure to evolve into a must attend weekend long event. There is also a swap meet for folks to sell stuff and the place is huge that having tiny flea market spaces will never happen. The Beaver has 100+ acres of fairgrounds. Its located in central Pa in the middle of farm country where no one gets too uptight about the noise. Hope to see you there this year and for those who attend, make sure you buy the event poster and get them autographed by Zombie, the editor of Rod & Kulture magazine, the events sponsoer, Scarry Larry and Beaver Bob, the events promoters that way your poster "scratched" by the innovators of you such a cool event that is taking notice by the tradional rodding world.

  28. Well, I guess if I get a ride in the caddy, I might make it to the West Coast Nats again.....In return for parking & accommodation for the weekend :D

  29. milltown ink show in palmer mass. for all of you in the eastern half of the US . and i heard the hotrod fallout is a hoot too. and of course the obvious billetproofs and viva and the rumblers show etc.etc.

  30. For an TRADITIONAL INVITATIONAL show OF ONLY pre-1964 of hot rods, customs and race cars, you have to check out the Nostalgia Race & Rod-A-Rama held on the northeast side of Atlanta in Lawrenceville, GA on March 21-22, 2009. An old timey indoor show with a huge swap meet on the grounds of the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds.
PM me if you have a car that you would like to have considered.
