Here's what I got accomplished today...thought I would share the crappy cell phone pic for anyone thinking about doing the same. I did a pretty standard notch with a piece of 4 1/2 in steel pipe sliced in half and boxed the inside rail. Then for the gas tank I had to trim about 1/2 inch of the frame rails on the inside edges. I also removed the rear crossmember and welded it back in farther back to where we can still run bumper brackets if wanted. I had to get a little tricky for the top rail as it has a hump...so I pie cut the side of the rails so they could lay flat...add another crossmember at the front af the tank and it shoul be all good! Sorry for just one pic...and a crappy one at that but it's what I have tonite! Now it's beer thirty!!!
Looks clean. I wish I had seen this earlier in the week. I just mounted a universal in mine. Looks like I went the long way around. I still need to replace the rear crossmember.
I really like the mustang tank because they don't hang down very far and they are only like 120 bucks brand new!....your's looks great and should definately get the job done.
