Hi All! As the car season begins I am already contemplating next "off season" modifications and doing some shopping for parts. I am debating about doing a Mustang II front end swap in my 52' Mainline. has anyone done one of these and if so, where did they get the front end from (Heidts, Speedway, Junkyard....etc)? Is there a particular brand to stay away from? I am planning on adoing an engine swap this off season as well. It is either going to be an SBC or an FE 390 (I have both engines and need to tear down the 390 to price out the build at this point in time.) I was looking at the different mustang II suspension offered by speedway and see they make two universals kits for a 60 inch width and a 56 inch width. I haven't measured anything yet. Looking for advice and any ***istance is greatly appreciated. Thanks All!

I’m curious what you figure out here. I’ve been contemplating the same thing. I haven’t done a lot of research, but I didn’t come up with anything that looked to be “custom fit”. My guess is that you’re going to need to go with whatever universal looks like it will fit the best.

Part of the change over was to get rack and pinion steering. Are there any racks that you know of that will mount up to the original steering arms? I have noticed that there is a shortage of steering box options for the 52 Ford. Thank you for the links to the other options. I do like the the control arm and brake set up. I saw something very similar from Jamco.

Most conversions in 50's fords used a Cavalier rack and pinion the downside to do doing that is it really increases the turning radius. You could consider keeping your stock steering box and linkage and using this: https://www.killbillet.com/forum/th...ing-from-a-saturn-vue-into-54-ford-customline An upside to the stock steering box is it is smaller than most so it gives more room for exhaust options also with electric steering no fabrication of belts, brackets and hoses are needed under the hood.

That Saturn electric PS looks like a winner. Anyone got one currently in service?

Someone on the yblocksforever site has done it. There was a complete article in the FOMOCO Times, the magazine of the Crown Victoria Owners ***ociation (you don’t need to be an owner of one to belong) on installing electric PS quite a while ago.

TCI makes a nice front stub for the 52-54 Fords. I was contemplating a 54 Ford and was looking up options.

Several guys on some of the 50's Ford facebook groups have done it and love the results.
