Mustang II front suspension?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 56townsedan, May 23, 2005.

  1. Need help on adding a Mustang II front suspension to my '56 Fairlane Town Sedan. What kits would I use and how to do it. It's probably easy for you guys, but I have never done one and I want to do it myself.

    Thanks

If you are set on a MII, I can suggest FatMan from experience. Easy to install and it rides great.........

Have you thought about doing a complete rebuild and upgrading to disk and dual master cylinder. A rebuild of all the rubber compoments does wonders adding disk and potentially a sway bar will make it stop and handle a whole lot better.........

  4. i'm not sure who all makes mustang ll crossmember kits for `56 ford , if any....Fatman Fabrications makes a complete frame stub , which be some major work....their catalog states the original frame design doesn't allow for the easy installation

i agree jalopy43 , keep the original front suspension.....kits for disc brakes , power steering , and drop spindles/springs are available and can be done with simple tools by the average guy

  5. Thanks guys. This idea sounds better than doing the whole MII thing.

  6. Try these guys, http://www.jamcosuspension.com/ Been around for some time now. May not be the cheapest solution but may be the easiest to do.

Also a company called Gearhead Cruiser products has been advertising in Rod & Custom. Mixed results so far, one very happy and the other not so. But they do offer a bolt in Saginaw 605 conversion!

The night prowler also offers dropped spindles and disc brake conversions for your car.

Other options include using the Ford Granada/Lincoln Versaille's spindles with some minor modifications to achieve disc brakes and a bit of drop.

That said I like Mustang II suspensions in general but there is a limmit as to what they fit best under.
