Technical Mustang ll dropped spindle nut won't fit.

Mustang ll spindle nut size?
I was given a pair of dropped spindles, maker unknown.
After painting and installing them my original Mustang ll spindle nut won't thread on.
Are they all standard size or are some manufactured metric?
What size is correct for a Mustang ll?
Maybe I need to run a die over it but unsure of it's size.
Someone suggested 13/16-20 thread maybe??

 

I've found that sometimes the use of an aftermarket spindle, with a new aftermarket nut, sometimes are off "just enough" that they dont' fit together.
You're right, run a tap and die to clean them up...don't remember the size, but it''s not a common one found in a kit.

 

What size is it ? Measure OD ,inch or metric ? check thread with a pitch gage.

 

I would use an open end wrench to size it . Then as stated above a thread pitch gage.

 

I ran a 13/16-20 thread chaser borrowed from a friend of a friend over the pair of dropped spindles yesterday.
Took some effort but cleaned up well.
All the old threads, the entire length had a flattened look to them.
I don't know what some prior heavy hand did to it, but it looked poor.

Maybe someone tried running metric over it????
