There ya go. Make safety fun and you won't have to worry so much when they are older. Get them some of those cool safety sunglasses and they won't ever want to take them off ;)

  2. Awesome thread, great truck, and great inspiration.
I hope you paint it next winter as stated earlier. Its going to be a very cool fun truck.

Awesome build, keep up the good work!

  4. This week we went to Home Depot and picked up a sheet of plywood.

Here is what we did with it. After some careful measuring and cutting we made it fit on the first try. The box had to be cut into two pieces to get it to fit correctly. The floors really help make the cab seem finished. I can finally see how I fit in it.

  5. Here it is with a f-1 hubcap before and after:

  6. I put new bushings in the F1 box and had to hone them to size.

    The column drop painted:

And the whole thing installed. I am gonna have to repaint it when I paint the body anyway:

  9. Here are some engine placement pictures as requested. I used Vern Tardell's book, but I had to make some adjustments to get the engine to clear. I made the engine mounts out of 3" square tube and the hole is centered front to back.

Looks like you and I did our motor mounts basically the same! I also used the tardel book as a guide and made some minor adjustments as well. Lookin good man! Keep it up!

  12. I made a plywood tray under the seat:

Had the kids do some painting:

Made some brake lines going to the front axle:

And then I added 3 leaves to the rear spring and it still sits to low so I am gong to add a 1" spacer later this week.

  14. We are getting close to going for a ride. I now have a gas pedal thanks to a 46 Ford truck that I kept this from. I had to mount it inside the cab because there is no clearance for it on the firewall.

I had a customer make me some stainless steel pieces to make covers for the holes in the floor for the master cylinder and battery.

The next project was to modify a pitman arm and build a drag link. I used a f1 pitman arm and cut the drag link apart. I added a tie rod section from the fire pumper wagon.

I chucked the drag link in the lathe and turn down the shaft to fit inside the tie rod sleeve.

I heated the pitman arm and bent it to clear the split wishbones.

Here is what I have as of now. I still have some tire rub.

  15. After I got the steering done, I started it up and drove it outside. I wanted to make sure it stops and steers. Seems fine.

  16. Now that I drove it, I had to bolt on the fenders to see how it looks. I drove it around the parking lot and it seems good. I need to raise up the front and rear though. I think 3/4" should do it.

Wish I had one just like it. My kind of build, my kind of hot rod.

No higher compliment do I know how to pay.

wow it looks super sweet ...great stance. aint easy makeing things look so simple ....

  21. Wow thanks for the compliments! It does look easy when you page through 6 months of work in 10 minutes.

I added 3/4" to the rear ride height today. I had some clearance issues when any weight was in the bed. The stance looks even better now. I was going to add 3/4" to the front but my dad would not allow it. He said it looks good the way it was.
