This is my 34 buick series 40 three window coupe traditional hot rod, original 233 cu inch straight eight.I have owned her for over 20 years now and everything was custom made for the engine in my machine shop by myself.I had it out driving around yesterday and thought I should post a picture.
Thats a Realy GREAT looking Car! Thats what its all about back in the Day you made almost everything for your Rod or Kustom just my 3.5 cents
Very Nice! I always wanted to build one of those with the propotions of the period advertisement illustrations.
What a great hot rod. Thanx for sharing this rare bird with us. Yeah, I would love to hear this baby running, sound clip? ~sololobo~
That thing is killer.... I also would like to hear it. Manual brakes with finned Buick drums.... bet that's a first.
That's really nice. Impressive that you hot rodded the original engine instead of a later 248 or 263, as almost anyone else would've.
Nice Buick, Thanks fer Posting. Your Avatar? Is She telling you, "You can come down NOW....I'm not gonna hurt you." ??????
I am very fortunate to own a small machine shop with a boring bar, sunnen rod machine, vertical mill etc. to do all the work like cutting the Babbitt out of the rods for inserts and so on.Most people think I am nuts for keeping the little 233,thank you for your kind words.
Very nice coupe........I had one of those (series 60) a few years back. It was a project car with great sheetmetal, but missing most of the wood. Nice to see one as a finished hotrod. Well done!
I've had a few straight eight Buicks. Mostly early '50s. One was a '51 Roadmaster Riviera (hardtop) 2dr with a 320. Just lowered a bit in back, and open exhaust. The engine had a nice sound and a surprising amount of torque...plenty for my purposes. As with your car, I loved the idea of having the original engine instead of a later V8. Eight cylinders, but vintage, baby!...lol. The equivalent of retaining the flathead in an old Ford. What makes your car so neat...other than the quality build...is that other than the brake drums and a maybe a couple other components, this car could've been built in the '30s!!! A very early "gentleman's" hot rod. A real time machine. So cool...I wanna drive it...lol. But I'll be satisfied to hear it run. Is the interior pretty much stock-style? Jeez, I'm droolin'!...lol.
