Since all the superlatives are already used up in the past eight pages all I can say is WOW what a car. Perfect stance even if you fill it sits a tad high. More and more I think my flathead needs a 36 to go in rather than a Model A.

As a good friend of mine used to "By Gawd, that's the way a 36 Ford ought to look!".

    I hate you. Seriously.

I was so set on running chrome '40 steel wheels with blackwall tires.. Now I think gold wheels with white walls would suit the paint scheme I have in mind much better than the chrome/blackwalls.

I'm going to be losing sleep over this thanks to you..

On a more serious note, that's one of the best.. nay, I say THE best looking '36 I've ever seen. Please tell me this will be at the LSRU next weekend?

I'd love to let your wheels influence me in person. :)

Perfect hot rod. These cars either look good as a traditional 40s early 50s custom, or a traditional 50s hot rod IMO.. yours is dead on.

I dont know how these hoods work and I love it the way it is, but could you remove just the hood sides to show off the flatty, but keep the top of the hood to show off the beautiful lines?

Haha... thanks for the kind words. I was really planning on going to LSRU this year. I've wanted to drive this car there ever since I started building it. Unfortunately, I cant take the days off work to pull it off and spend the time I wanted to down there to make the trip worth while.

It would be possible to run just the top if I fabbed up some kind of latch for the top since the hood sides are what hold the whole works down. I actually considered that. I almost hate running a hood on this thing b/c I am so proud of the motor, but I think it looks a bit unfinished with out it. It only takes 2 screws to remove it, so I may pull it off a few times this summer to cruise around.

The springs have continued to sag and I feel it sits just about perfect now. The very top of the white wall is right at the lip of the fender, just like I wanted.

Thanks again for all the complements!

Man that '36 looks great. excellent work and you made it look easy in the thread. Seems like there's a lot of nice 36's getting built lately. Makes me want one.

Thanks! The generator is a standard PowerGen alternator disguised as a generator. I am using a offy adapter to mount the fan to front pulley. It is the standard adapter to use a alternator on a flathead. I had to trim the fan down a bit to fit under the radiator tank.

WOW Dan your car looks great. I need to add seat belts to my '36 and I was wondering if you can shoot some pics of the bottom of your car showing the mounting locations. Also is the bottom of your seat still removable ?
    Thank you,
    Rob

Thanks again for all of the comments.

I don't have any pics showing the floor w/ the belts in. They are simply just drilled behind the bottom of the seat on the flat part of the floor, and I used the big washers on the sheet metal. They probably wouldn't do much in a major accident, but I guess they'd slow me down a bit. The bottom is removable. I actually located my fuse panel under the seat to have easier access than the firewall.

Love the car..What is the formula for the blue paint. I am just about to paint my 36 and I MAY TRY YOUR BLUE.

The color is supposed to be Washington Blue, but it is off a bit. I had some paint photo matched when I repainted the sides of the grille and firewall. It is not exact, but close.

Here is the label off of the paint can if that helps at all:

ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1378073822.957707.jpg i was driving by and caught the trunk end out of the corner of my eye. Of course we had to find a place to park and check it out. Stunning to say the least!

    Fuck that's a nice car!

Thanks for the kind words... You caught me down at the River Market area going to some of the antique shops down there instead of at the show... haha.

Always a have a good time in KC.

Found some cool spots around town for pics!

Thanks... the front brakes are 1955 Ford F100 truck brakes on 40 Ford spindles.

Dirty Dan, when I see this car it reminds me so much of my brothers old 36 5 window that my grandfather gave him in 1963. Would you mind if I PM' you with the body numbers I have from the transfer to my brother in 1963 to see if this just might be the old girl? Sending a picture.
