The past few years my Dad and I would talk about regrets in life.
I love traditional Hotrods and Customs.
So I decided to get one of the many cars I've always wanted. It only happened after my Dad gave me his newer Toyota Tacoma due to him having ALS, I sold my older Tacoma and waited patiently. So on the HAMB I saw a 1936 Ford Coupe for sale in the Dallas suburb area. After contacting the owner, we agreed on a deal over the phone and would hold the car for me. I borrowed my brothers bigger truck and a Uhaul and made my way. So time passed after bringing it home and the coupe had made a transformation. It sits on a 1939 Ford frame, but still had the 21 stud Flathead. I got it wired up, running, stopping properly, lowered the rear, found some skirts, flipper hubcaps and drove the sh!t out of it. My Dad passed away last year in August from ALS and I decided I was going to go full Custom in his honor and not live my life with regrets. So I looked and inquired with many shops and could never lock down a date or get a good yes or no answer from shops. I was finally referred to Old Iron Workshop in Georgetown, TX by a good friend, I inquired and he quickly said yes. So I dropped off the Coupe and here is the start on my tribute to my Dad and to going full Traditional Custom.

Please be patient as I upload videos and Pictures.

So after getting my Coupe back, I didn’t feel satisfied. I was happy with the work done, but I had a Laselle grill I had been wanting on the Coupe. I hung it on my wall for a bit, drove the car for a couple of weeks and was scheduled to get painted. In the back of my mind I was bothered, I wanted to keep going and do more work, I didn’t want to settle. A lot of people, even some close friends thought the chop was enough, but I wasn’t happy, I had a vision, I didn’t want to regret this build. So when I was getting ready to paint it, I pulled it out and took it out Metal fabricating legend Bexar Bones Garage in San Antonio after his schedule opened up enough to accommodate the work on the Coupe.

So the plan was to add the Laselle grille that I had bought and wanted on my Coupe.

Here you see the finished product of the Laselle grill being installed by Chris at Bexar Bones Garage. So Chris and I would communicate a lot and he’d send me updates (there are a lot of pictures that I didn’t upload) well we had an idea. I always loved The Chopper Member John Fishers 36 Three window and it was serving a inspiration for my car, that was the front end I loved, I thought it was perfect. So Chris asked what about the headlights, let’s do those next, I didn’t have any at the time, but I had some saved on eBay just waiting to pull the trigger. Chris said he could do it so that’s what was next on the list.

So the headlights being installed are 1939 Buick and Chris was making sure they would go on properly without having to cut the fenders and sink them in.
I may have to hold off, maybe I’m overwhelming this site. What happened to the HAMB?

So the Laselle grille, I think someone made this, who knows when, I bought it off Instagram years ago. It’s one piece, original grilles are two pieces. It’s a rough casting and it will be cleaned up and polished.

So here’s the finished product, well, the headlight trim is missing, but you get the overall look and feel.
The front is done, what’s next? IMG_0547.jpeg

So what’s next? Is anyone even asking? Bueller? HAMB?
I inquired about some fender skirts from a well known builder and after putting down a deposit and waiting 4 months and nothing, I decided I was going to get my money back. So I asked Chris at Bexar Bones if he could make me some skirts, his reply, I can make anything
So I had some ideas and he had a better idea and so fender skirts were next on the list.

I thought making the headlights bolt on to the stock stands was a creative move. It’s going to have that speed boat/ 40’s custom feel for sure. Really dig the work on the hood tops as well.

Something with the hamb now is now that you can “like” a post, threads get fewer replies. In which case it sinks to page 7 trillion and no one sees it.

so here’s a little mini ramble to bump this to the front page
