Growin up my parents got divorced when I was 13, just the time most kids really get to start working out in the shop with there ole man, Well Mom moved us to Wisconsin, and Dad stayed in Missouri.
growin up I had always loved cars thats all I would draw and every one of them had aluminum slots. I had cars as a highschool kid , ole beaters, ole trucks and such, but as those of you from the northern states know old metal goes to rust real fast. I learned a thing or two here and there, from shop class, my friends, my friends dads, but I really never had the $$$$$ money to do any real car building.
Fast forward to last Oct. I am going thru the cars on craigs list and what do I come accross... One of the coolest cars I had ever seen. so I call the guy up and go ver to take a look at the knowing I was gonna buy it before I had even seen it.
Well the guy I bought it from you all know.... Chris( yes the more cars than god Chris:D) The plan was to find a car to drive that I could restore later after I had built a car from from the ground up. heres where we go back to the begining of this story, I got sick of extracting knowledge from people so I am diving into a model a coupe build. I'll have to fix whats broke, rewire it and probably more than once.
well back to the****le of this thread....
I had bought the 41 from Chris in oct,it had sat most of the winter, when it got nice enough to drive I was on my way, but all I heard was.Chris's car this and Chris's car that to the point that I almost sold or traded it(Fuck I'm glad Josh talked me off the ledge).
Friday morning we headed out for Billetproof ( all my friends thought I was crazy "your not gonna really drive that all the way over there are you?" "It's kinda junkie to drive that far isn't it?") we'll I had my fingers crossed and hoped that the force would be with me.
as I slipped it down into third a smile came across my face that lasted until I pulled into the drive way last night. with the nice rumble of that flathead in my ears I never once missed the***** that spews out of a radio. we went from Spokane to Pasco(OOOPS) up to Yakima and over whites pass into Billetproof spent the weekend with some of the coolest people I have ever met then on sunday we headed for Tacoma, Then headed east for Spokane, not one belch, burp or even a sign of a problem.
I have to agree with Lenny when he said " This is the best motor Chris and his Dad had ever built."
But the best part of the trip was when we were getting gas in Ellensburg and this old guy comes outta the gas station and goes" OH MY GOD!!! I havent seen a 41 Ford in years, I used to have one!" I honestly thought he was gonna cry. the cracking of his voice made me so glad I had made this trip, At that point I really didnt care who had had the car who had built the car or what other people say about the car. as I pulled back onto the hwy I sat back in the couch of a front seat , and took a deep breath and enjoyed my new found zen.
so thank you Cris and Eddy Haskel for building the car, Thank you Chris for selling me the car and thank God for getting my**** back home.

HAHAHAHA, great thread. I told ya that car would make it, I drove it to Seattle without a hickup :D That was the first flathead I ever rebuilt, so I'm sure some extra care went into it when my ol man was halping me put it together.

I'm glad you bought it, I'm glad you didn't sell it, and I'm thrilled that you love it. I love that car too, but it was time for me to move onto anoter project. It's your car now, and the "Chris' car" saying will fade away I'm sure.

If you need some parts for your new A, come over before the swap meet cus I'm dragging a lot of***** down to get rid of!
