OK, here are some pics. Still waiting on the stud kit to mount the valve cover.
I guess the 216 valve cover doesn't completely cover the mating surface?

I would love to make Santa Maria, but I have a long way to go before I am ready for that kind of trip in the beast. Hopefully I can get it on the road and shake it down a little and just maybe I can make it!

Looks great! Love the color on the wheels. Is the car going to be the same color?

I haven't decided on the car color yet. For now, the charcoal will do. I can't wait to get started on smoothing it out

Got her fired up today, all the fluids are in (and they seem to be staying in) and the cam sounds badass. Carbs are a little rich, but close, and ear tuning the timing got it to idle nice and sound decent throughout the rev range.

Got the wiring to the front of the car and the brake and headlight dimmer switches buttoned up, now I need to finish the interior wiring.

One down side...the Waltons rear springs (which are listed to come with lowering blocks but didn't) still sits too high. Gotta get some 2 or 3" blocks tomorrow. Front sits nice, we'll see how it settles. I hope to get it around the block tomorrow.

Hey, that's all the things I'd like to add to my car. Nice welds on your IFS setup. Painless wiring is going to be sweet since you want to drive it daily!

Nice.... how hard was it to put that S10 rear in her... I'm about to do the same on my 51 coupe.

    keep it up Erik!!

The rear works perfectly. I could be an inch wider I guess, but it pretty much works great. No rubbing or anything. Skirts fit right. That ratio with the 5-speed should be sweet.

Well, I got it moving today!. Got the shifter in, brakes bled and front sheetmetal bolted back on tight.

Got some pics of the stance, I am liking it so far. I expect the front will settle a bit, plus I still have to add the hood and A/C stuff. The rear is as low as I dare without notching it.

Got my Moon gauges temporarily mounted ( I don't know where they will end up once the A/C vents are in)

Got the battery tray mounted in the trunk. Not prettied up yet, but functional.

My plan for the dash is to modify two delete panels for the side holes and mount the speakers behind them. In the center,I'll mount the stereo and use piano hinge to hinge the old speaker panel.

Last one. What do you guys think...Skirts or no? I like the look of the skirt, but the wheels are so hot, I want to see them.

Nice car man, I have a 50 myself that im slowly working on. Can you give a pats list for us newbies and some info like what year S10 rear end did you use, did you make the wiring or bought a kit (gauge or wire)? Some links for parts you bought. I know its asking for alot but it would help.

Bailed on GoodGuys today since it was pouring when I got up. Decided to get some work done on the ride. VERY successful day!
Got the new gauge cluster from Dolphin installed and working
Straightened steering wheel (was bugging me)
Removed the intake and exhaust manifolds and installed the new Remflex gasket (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
Got the carbs synched with my new Empi tool and a custom adapter I made from a plastic paint can
Got my dash delete panels cleaned off of paint and lightly polished.
Installed front seat belts (The wife wouldn't ride in it unless I did.)

Finally, I took it out for a good cruise, rain and all. Sounds sweet and runs great!

Now tomorrow, maybe I can get the tank dropped so I can install the sender and then I can take some pics!

Sweet ride and i like how you went with quality stuff on the build. I think you will enjoy it a lot. What did you do with the Air Box/AC that was hanging on the window? Are you going to use it? I always thought those were so "COOL" looking.... You did good........ ;o)

    Thanks guys!
Got the Sender in today. Aside from puking about 3 gallons of fuel all over my shoes and garage floor, it went off without a hitch. Got my speedo cable installed too, so we went out and cruised Pleasanton a little to see if any of the Good Guys participants were out, but nobody was around. Blasted through Livermore and picked up dog food and groceries. This thing runs like a champ, got 26 miles on it today.
Gotta change to a heavier oil. Makes 10psi hot idle, but maxes out around 30psi at 3k. I know the old 10psi per thousand is cool deal, but I think I'll try the rotella 15/40 I have in bulk at the diesel shop and see what happens.

PugMan, the Thermador is for sale in the classifieds. It just wasn't my style.

No "Bomba" for me. It'll be smoothed out, and I am toying with the idea of chopping it. I want to get everything else done first.

Custom is ok too. i see only 2 ways of doin a car, its either custom or lowrider, no particular preference, its the model and condition of the car that would dictate the direction to me.
Keep up w/ the enthusiasm, keeps me heavy at it since day one :)

This weekend was pretty productive. Got the doors and fenders readjusted so they have decent enough gaps. Changed the oil and then fought the drivers side door mechanism again and again. Finally got it right today.
Drove it about 75 miles, including my first freeway time. Cruises great at 70 and even 80 MPH, so I am happy about that.
Today I got the stainless trim off the doors and front fenders, removed the handles and got my driver's side door popper installed. Hope to get the passenger side and trunk poppers done this week and get the alarm/popper controller installed next weekend

Since all the mechanicals are stable I figured I would start on the body. The paint was ok but was full of texture and way too much flake for me. Im gonna leave the roof and take the lower half down to bare metal so I can fill holes french my lights etc.eccentric

Like everything so far. A couple of suggestions. '55 chev headlight brows rather than french, stock height roof line-one piece windshield glass? drive it for a while until heartrate gets to normal before anything else! drive and enjoy does look like a keeper
