    CHOP UPDATE!
It happened today, the lid got lopped. I think this is decent progress for day 1. HUGE thanks to Logan for spending the day and making sure I didn't screw too much up. I'll be working on the catwalk and the sail panels tomorrow.

Thanks man! We ended up with about 3"/4". I thought I might want more, but we stuck the door tops and window opening in there and I really like the proportions of the window area to the body.
Today I have to mess with the beltline below the window and try to get that all tacked in. The on to cutting the sail panels out and making new ones. With my buddy's help, that whole chop took place in about 9 hours.

More pics from today. I cut the beltline trim land from the body and moved it up to the bottom of the window. Then I pie cut the corners and moved them up. I test fit the trim back in place and it looks like it should work. Just have to trim and cap the forward edges of the trim.
Got my marks made to cut the sail panels out. I think I am going to fill in the catwalk first to make everything as sturdy as possible before I cut out the sail panel.

Thanks Sean. I am crapping my pants a little about making the sail panels, but I guess its only metal and I gotta give it a try..

Got some more done today. Made the filler for the catwalk and got it installed, tacked it to the window frame, made the fillter for the bottom of the c-pillar and cut out the crown piece. Made a pattern for the hole, just have to cut a couple of new pieces and start fitting them up.

This week I made it to the shop by 6:15 every morning to get an hour or so in on the car. I just don't have the energy after a full day, so this is working. I got the passenger's sail panel pretty much done, I think it needs one more relief cut to soften the crown and make the transition smoother. I am kind of winging it, but its looking pretty decent to me.
The driver's side went MUCH faster and easier than the passenger's side....I had a little better idea of what I was trying to do and managed a tighter fitting panel. Got most of that tacked in today. Going to work on finishing the tack and shaping the sails, then on to the package tray.
Logan should be out this week to help me with the B Pillars, window frames and rear quarter openings.

OK, so over the last few days, I have been fingerfucking the panels I made and they look great from almost every angle..except one. Without an english wheel I think I am screwed on how they look. SOOOO....I fortunately kept the pieces I cut out. I tweaked them so that I have some of the crown that the new pieces were lacking. Robleticia, I am going to take a page from your build thread and relief cut the metal that I have, make a little tweak in the angle of the rear window and try again.
I'll get some pics up after a marathon day tomorrow...>Arggggg.. I guess this is what they call experience, right?
Any HAMBers wanna help me out tomorrow??

Today, Danny and I got the old crown pieces back in place, and Brian helped is figure out where to make new pieces, etc. We got a new center section made and installed.
We tacked everything in, relief cut what we needed to, beat it into submission, then started stiching it up. Danny used his baby TIG and I used the MIG on the other side. We were able to do a ton without any significant warpage. I think its starting to look pretty sweet!

Some more pics here. ALSO..Sport brought by some '49 Buick Roadmaster Tail Lights to check out. I LOVE them! Going to trim the bottom off the bezel and then french them just a bit. I think I will use some round rod on the top of the fender to peak it into the peak on the tail light. REALLY cool, I am excited.

More progress tonight..Got almost all of the stitching up completed. Tomorrow morning I'll do the rest and do some grinding, then on to some shaping up and hopefully I can call that part "ready for duraglass"

Thanks guys! I am kinda OCD when I get into a project. Once I have a goal, I'll work like a dog to make it happen. Plus I a learning a bunch of new skills (or butchering techniques, depending on who you ask) and that keeps me energized.

The sails are all stitched up. The ones I made were too flat on the back, I couldn't get two curves into the metal with my lack of skills and tools. So I used the old pieces and made new filler pieces. I think it looks pretty good, I may need to relieve it in one or two spots and knock it down, but we'll see.

Mine is pretty ugly right now, but they keep telling me thats what Bondo is for...

Today was a good day. Got the rest of the roof stripped, finished the stitching, got most of the package shelf reattached and finally got the thing outside for a look.

I also tried metal shrinking for the first time and it worked out great. Had some oil canning in the roof and managed to get rid of it.

Going to get the pillars and some muddin done this week.
