wonderful improvement! my friends think I am over-critical of wheel/tire combinations on cars. Perhaps I am. but you just re-enforced my thinking...they can make or break a car. just walk around at Back to the 50's...you will see what I mean great job!
So---I'm asuming you paid $1200 for the car the way it first looked? Wow! I could learn to like it any color the way it looks now. Sometimes you guys and gals leave out details and asume that we asume. Or is that what the tires, wheels, and hubcaps cost? See, I was asuming.
No one has said it yet, But I will...........I like the color scheme! (too many black/red Mercs around) the new wheels/tires looks great!
That looks sweet now. I'm not a big fan of flames on Mercs either but those are more now you see them and now you don't flames that don't overpower the rest of the car and really blend in when you put the whitewalls and caps on it. Much improved.

Adjusting the strikers made quite an improvment. Hi denny, sorry If I was not clear: It was the wheel/tire combo that set me back 1200 bucks (purchase price+shipping to Europe+customs). The car did cost a lot more (so problably buying the car was the best money ever spent, but the tires come a close second....) This summer I will drive the car as much as possible, next step will be going over the engine compartment and improving the interior.
Looks a billion times better. I have those same tires on my '46, I've driven them over 4 thousand miles so far in the past few months and I love them. They do surprisingly well on the freeway at high speeds.

IM with the others looks super classy with that paint and wheel cover combo if you could loose the flames it would put it over the top!
This right here, speaks to me. It looks stellar. I'm a fan of no skirts. Good job on the wheels and tires.
After I got thinking about it I figured it was the wheel/tire combo that cost $1200. But some people do luck out and get super buys. And while I was thinking I thought it really does look nicer without the skirts. And I do like fenderskirts. Now after all that thinking I think I'll lie down. I'm dizzy!
Looks way better. Great choice on the wheel color really complements the paint well. For me it is skirts all the way!!
You're probably right, Doctor. I was unsure but finally decided to put them on cause there are some scratches and marks in the fenders where the skirts are mounted. Maybe I can polish them up. In my country it is mandatory to have at least a mirror on the driver's side. The old ones were pitted and too small, impossible to see anything. As the holes were there I had to put new ones on both sides. I used 55-57 Tri-five Chevy aftermarket ones as I thought that's maybe what a customizer would have used back in the days. Also they are big enough to really see what's happening behind. Finally I have added the reworked Sun tach that I've bought here on the classifieds. Still have to figure out how to connect it, my car has original 6 volt/pos ground (black/white/green/red wires). 4000 rpm will be enough for the flattie...
