Hi, yeah I got a template from metalman and have done alot of research on these clips. I do plan on driving it for a LONG time. I'm gonna put the volare rear end in..been thinking the 9 in. but I still don't know. and Thank You! "*****in' Rat Fink" yeah that does look like me..haha what did you do with that truck? Thanks Javier
The truck was my daily driver for 6 years. First my father and I did a stock restoration on it with the 223 six cylinder. Over the period of two years I lowered it, had my buddy lay down some scallops on it, and swapped in a 292 Y-block. You can also see how well the black paint aged ... This past summer I decided I wanted something different, so I p***ed the old truck on to a new home with a fellow HAMBer. It was a fun truck.
Thanks, I thought it was pretty unique. The design of the scallops & flames were left up to my buddy Mike, and he really delivered. I never saw another '57-'60 at a show that was quite like it. The only thing I never got to do was to get it low for real. What are the plans for yours?
Yeah that'd be the only thing I'd do is lower it. Mine is going to be JD blitz black, lowered down, steelies not sure of color or if I'll have wide whites or blackwalls...
There is a reason you never saw another f1 with flames like that. ^^ Johnny boy keep working dude you'll smack this thing out of the park! Keep going!
Just got caught up on what your been up to. Done great, young fella, i love the 318 part, and every young guy needs a truck. Havent seen you over at the scale group much, so i guess you busy with the real stuff. Been doing a bit myself on my A. No scale work at all latly.
Sorry, dont do fb. Also sorry to hear you been stressed out. Im getting that way myself with the A. trying to get rear hubs off and things arnt going to plan. Think i may have lost my 1/8 scale 32 to the quake, it was in the city being sold, and $$ was going into the A. Keep yer chin up, dont let em get ya down. When you feel bad, just think on yer truck, its what i do.
Ok, had to ask. And stressing over the truck is only half of it. I gotta get it atleast running to take it to Billetproof NW in June 25-27th. I get my permit on June 17th..I'm driving up with my car club. I am already registered. and bummer about the 32.
Good luck with your plans. Its the not knowing with the 32 thats getting to me. Mate who did the deal wont answer his phone. Could be worse i guess, lot of people down here in real bad shape, and wer'e doing our best to help.
Well started out at 2pm today..didn't take as many pics because we were busy as hell so I'll let the ones I did take do the talking.. first 10 Minutes in gotta flesh wound that blead alot! Discovered some rot in the cab corners. Not all the way through..simple enough Unbolted the front axle and put it on trailer started stripping the frame..cleaned up a TON of grease and paint..still have some more I gotta hit with the flapper disc and also unbolted alot including the steering column and box and of course Keeth has to take a pic of me sandwiched in the truck unbolting the steering column some pics of me and Keeth's son Andy working on the truck we were both really greasy! haha Stay tuned until next weekend...-Jon
Sorry for the bad date stamp on the photso, I didnt know that was set to show up on the pics..Its was actually from today 03/05/11
Well since I have two 57's I'm subscribing to this thread. Like you ideas and thoughts on the Volare and 318 and auto combo. I really LOve my Yblocks like a few others here but Mopar would be my 2nd chioce. A very good relieable motor and I have had several of them. Your 318 I think is a lot better choice than the bigger brother 360 only because the 360s I've had like a lot of gas no mater what but pull/work real good. And am also glad that your Gramps there is guiding you along there, that is so cool! I've had a lot of fun with my Uncle's and my Dad growing up helping along too if I got stuck on something. Michael
Went over to Keeth's this morning, Just got home. Pressure washed the front clip and firewall before that removed unused wiring, then ground the firewall to bare metal D) then proceeded to weld up un necessary holes, then ground those down, finished it off with Rustoleum "Ultra Coat" back primer. Getting a chrome grille next weekend, anyways let the pics do the talkin'Thanks Keeth
