Ill keep this short in sweet. When I was 15 growing up in NJ, I fell in love with an Oldsmobile parked around the corner from a house my father was working on. We ended up getting the car and my first car was a 61 Olds Dynamic 88 Coupe. Fast forward to 2009. I get into college in Rochester NY and sell the car for something practical to drive in the "rust belt" 2016ish? Im working a career at a racing shop and I happen to see an Olds 88 for sale in MA. I buy the car. Immediately toss the car on air and boom. I get involved in the local lowrider clubs, have some fun. Covid happens, car get parked and neglected for a few years. April 2025 - I attend the Lowrider Super show in Atlantic City. This show lights a fire inside me. I want to build my car into a traditional custom but keep some of the lowrider culture alive. My roots are in my fathers Indian Motorcycle Restoration/Chopper shop and around custom cars. I hung out around Les Dunhams shop a ton growing up. May 2025 - Lowrider Magazine is supporting the Syracuse Nationals (near me). This is something I can do! Time to sharpen the pencils and get to work. Full interior done and roof art done in 2 months on weekends. A good friend, Mat Seely absolutely killed the roof on my car. I've been cruising around having a blast this year. This winter I plan on taking the rest of the body down and getting ready for full body art. I have a fresh blueprint 383 Stroker to be installed as well to replace my SBC350 which has been swapped for a while now. I scored a sweet custom hood as well!
You need to get to know Joe Siclari. He is in NJ and has a beautiful '61 88. @57JoeFoMoPar is his HAMB handle. Here is the thread, https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-consolation-prize-61-olds-super-88.1267254/
Funny you should say that, I actually have gotten to know Graeme through Facebook and our mutual friend, the incredibly talented Mat Seely. This 61 is totally bitchin and I have no doubt it's going to be even better. Loving all the progress here
Very cool looking car! I like it! My brother has a Buick that would look good next to it like it did next to Joe’s.
I actually really like the front end treatment in the rendering above, where it's using a 61 Pontiac front bumper, and then lowering the fenders on the Olds to meet it, with custom headlights and grill bars. It looks super clean, like it could have come from the factory that way
