I purched a 1968 pm318r engine from my family friend that lives next store. He is the same age as me 57. We both remember the 70's and what it was like ,anything goes with street raceing and car hops. Well Ill get to the point. I need a pro on this engine. It was built by a friend. It sat for aprox. 30 years,but here is my happy news. The engine only has aprox 50 miles on it after a gear head rebuilt it. The problem was simple, he put to heavey of a spring in the oil pump relief valve,blowed out filters. second after he shaved the heads the head bolts botomted out and blew the head gaskets.Well this is what i got dont know how much was shaved off stock heads#2843675-5,block#2536030318-8,bored out to 3.940 over,L2329-030 pistons,piston stroke 3.300,deck to piston clearence is 5 thous., forged crank ballenced,blue printed,intake elelbrock torker 340,holley 650 dual pumper witch is old and junk,over size valves exhust 1.788 dia,4.500 length .0372 stem dia.pitted from sitting,junk,oversise intake valves 1.498 dia,4.500 length,0.371 dia. Harmonic ballancer is a solid ***embley and ballenced.Lifter bore .903,I heard it might of had a 3/4 cam in it dont know dont have.Also do i have to change cam bearings for a new cam? what cam should i use? cilnder walls have no pitting, cleaned up py soaking in oil minor rust. some pitting on heads, exh.ports ect., would good gaskets take care of that? Any other info you guys need i can relay later. like i said i need help to make everything a prefect match and make it a good street rod without blowing engine and making it last for a long time. I still need a car to put it in and after seeing prices of a 68 dart in getting scared. Any sugestions? need a nice body that haves a nice shape like a woman and thats mopar later thanks, help me gear heads.
just an fyi, this site focuses on vehicles pre 1965, you may or may not get the help you are looking for, as many engines are probably dropped in to pre 65 cars from donors after 65...welcome from IN

per pm 318r. I got luckey.I paid 100 dollors. Itwas from a friend. he was going to put it in a 68 charger and never did. so i got it.
per pm318r also to conpleate engine i need trans., flywheel, all the bolts and ***y. for frount of engine. i only have a short block.
