my 235 chevy is running really rough

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by sickboy kustom painting, Jun 27, 2010.

  1. it starts fine ...idles fine...and even run good until it gets to high rpms then it just starts spitting and sputtering like crazy...and not all the time sometimes its worse than others...any ideas?

  2. i think i'd start by checking my advance and timing. check your timing with a timing light as you rev off idle. your spark should stay ahead of tdc. if not your vacuum advance may be failing. if timing seems tight i think i'd make sure fuel flow is meeting demand as the rpms increase. try to keep it simple, good luck.

I was having the same problem, would take it for a drive and under load -same symptoms,I have the old gl*** bowl style fuel filter-well it was clogged, bad .I also did plugs, condenser, coil, new ignition wires and switch, ground wire and gapped the points-sounds like a totally different motor now.

Me too, but lucky for me my mechanic knows my car like the back of his hand and is going to fix it lol.
