He was busy, a rare 3 day weekend motor-homing with my girls at the beach.

So, today's update, and paint code included........
Thanks for the compliments all, and while I built the entire truck, and did all the metal work, it's the painter, Dan Hanson, Dan Gogh Customs that gets the credit for the spectacular prep and paint. He's on Instagram, dangoghmasterrefinishing. It's tough to get a true photo of the color as it is, but it's awesome, not bright like it shows in some of the pics.

It'll be going on the chassis on my avatar in the next week or two, after he releases it to me.....
    More to come.

Badshifter, thanks for sharing the paint code. I am planning to paint my 40 pickup this Summer, and Washington Blue was my choice. Not many painters can get down that flat, right out of the gun, you have to be pleased.

Great color choice and the best pickup body style ever created, I'll be watching this one closely.

I'm looking forward to seeing more. I want to see how the paint looks out in daylight. Different than the booth to be sure. :)

Beautiful Paint job. That is the way that Single stage enamel should look. That is all that I shoot and when people that shoot BC/CC watch me do it they freak out at how wet I lay it on.
Don't take this the wrong way but as to what is the true formula/color to Washington blue: I have seen 100 point Ford restorers just about get into fist fights over that. LOL
The custom truck in my avatar is going to be painted"Washington Blue" as well and my test panels appears to be slightly more Blue/Black then yours . But getting a true picture of a paint color is really impossible
. Yours looks great. Enjoy it.

Deltron Concept DCC is actually single stage acrylic urethane, not enamel.
As far as the true Washington blue goes, this is very nice.
I may have to have some mixed up for my RPU. Love it.

Another quick question, will Dan be color sanding and buffing this out ? The answer is probably yes, and I would love to see -learn how that is done.
I know pictures can be deceiving however it looks good enough as shot to skip the color sanding and buffing step.

Well that just shows you how old i am.:) When I worked in body shops back in the late 60's early 70's we still had enamel. So that what I call Single stage paint.
We also never "Cut and Buffed" anything but lacquer paint back then. That was the whole point of using enamel. A lot less work.

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Dan cut the few areas that had imperfections, dust etc. and buffed them. As for pictures outside, I am looking at the parts and I am looking at them through the camera on my iPhone and that is not the color I am looking at. As you can see my office seems to be the only safe place for newly painted parts. I will start to assemble this week and post pictures as I go.

This isn't Dan, it's one of his guys. There were just a few quarter size spots where he sanded with I think 1500 or 2000 grit, and then did a light buff on the whole door.

Nothing much to add but that looks fantastic. '29 Model A pickup was my dream hot rod since high school, 1963 or so. Then I sat in one a few years ago. Just couldn't fit, I'm 6'4" give or take. Still love them!!
