Well, as some may know, I drove home a 31 coupe last week. It's in pretty damn good shape, but a stock model A isn't what I wanted.

I guess I'll start a "build thread" although I haven't done a lot of building as of this moment, more like dis***embling.

Today I removed the spare tire carrier, fenders, running boards, etc. and tinkered with the carb and got it running real smooth.

I must say I love the way it looks already.

The chop will be going down in a couple weeks (most likely 5")

I have to remove the rear bumper brackets, make the headlight brackets, mount the brake light (single, center mounted) and wire it up tomorrow.

Then I'll drive it over to a buddy's house and we will start the chop process.

I will take pics and post them up as I complete the work. For now, here is a pic of when I drove it home, and the others are as of right now.

After the chop, future plans will include an intake and single 94, header and straight exhaust, etc.

    Nice look-in ride...
If you chop the top 5" you have to lower the **** out of rest of the car
I am not saying that is a bad thing that was my plain when i first got my car 5 years ago

Keep true to your build path, I too was going to keep the banger but got carried away and went krazy with the complete build. I'm still moving forward but do wish I would have done what your doing and I would be driving it now. Nice ride, consider 4 inches only on the chop.

shooter54, no problem. If you look at the link model.A.keith posted, you'll see my 28a with a 5" chop. So I have a little insight, or lack of. :]'

thanks. that's the plan. i have been toying with the idea of building a 32 style frame, v8, etc ch***is on the side-then swapping the body over once it's done and making a speedster out of the existing ch***is. who knows. i don't want to not be able to drive it though, so it won't be coming completely apart any time soon!

Don't know whos'e driving here, but a 5" roof chop will look cool but will be a pain for a big guy, your car your choice, there's not a great amount of space in a std A coupe.Your car your choice especially if you are thinking of driving any great distances, you soon tire of cramped cabs, however good they look.

Nice car. I'd vote for a 3.5" chop. You've got to be comfortable driving it. The color isn't so far off what I'm painting my '31 back to-black fenders and a '29 Balsam green-it's a little darker, but not much. Good luck
